this is my 1st DIY, so i hope it helps. this is a really easy DIY, so save your money for mods, and do this one at home. :D

You will need 3 tools for this DIY.
1. Flat head screwdriver
2. 10mm wrench/socket
3. 16mm socket

step 1, remove airbox. Undo the 2 10mm nuts on the right hand side of the airbox.

Step 2. undo the retaining clips that hold the airbox to the MAF sensor portion of the intake tube.

Step 3. Remove air duct from the alternator. You will just need to unscrew the hose clamp that sits just above the alternator, and pull up, then back.

Step 4. you will now be able to see the tensioner pulley. Use the flat head screw driver to pull the dust cap from the front of the pulley.

Step 5. now with the dust cap removed you will be able to access the 16mm nut on the front of the tensioner pulley. To remove the belt, simply attach the 16mm socket to the front of the pulley, and rotate clockwise as to tighten. This will release the belt tension, and the belt can be slipped off of the alternator pulley.

Step 6. simply pull the socket the other direction to remove the 16mm bolt that’s holding the pulley in place.

Your pulley is now off. Simply do the reverse to get your pulley back on, and the car back together. Should take 20 min, or less from set up to clean up.

Good write-up. I need to replace mine soon. I didn't know if removing the fan blade was required but you answered my question.

Reminds me that I need that pulley cover...was replacing the alternator in a dark parking lot in rain/sleet and not sure where it got off too. :stickoutt

my pulley disintegrated into pieces on the highway yesterday. could've been very dangerous but i was luckily able to pull over.

i really was hoping that i wouldn't have to remove the fan. this is just what i needed to hear...

thanks for the write-up. hope to get everything put back together this weekend.

Awesome - I am going to replace my pulley this weekend and was going to go about it a totally different way! Thanks.

By the way, why are you replacing yours?
I THINK mine is making an awful noise, so I hope that the replacement will get rid of it.

Well done, mate. My pulley is on the way out too. I'll do it in a couple of days too.
Oh, by the way, my squeaky pulley is brand new, so I am installing my old one back. Amazing how you can't trust in new parts either.

here's the culprit... has anyone's tensioner pulley disintegrated like this?
