So, I have a small bleed where the tank meets the hoses. Someone suggested that I just change out the tank. But, the previous owner had a coolant leak and took it in to get it repaired last year in Sept. He ended up having to replace the radiator, tank, cap, thermo cover & housing. In July, he also replaced the thermostat, fan clutch, upper & lower coolant hoses. In June, he had to replace the expansion tank and thermostat cuz he overheated the engine trying to recharge the battery (?).
I know the cooling system is one of those e36 problems, but I wanted to know how often the tank needs to be replaced? I would think it would last longer than a year. Was it just summer that did it? Is it just bad work quality? (all the above repairs were done at the same place) Can I just find some rubber washer that fits and use epoxy to seal it up?
