The manual said it's under the dash on the left side, but I can't seem to locate it. I also do not know what it looks like. I think all of the rear brake light wiring goes through it. A little help please. I'm still tring to fix the brake light failure circuit problem

Check Control Module.
All off the current sensing resistors are located in the CCM.
I may have a bad solder joint, or lose wire. I can't check it because I do ot know where to find it.

Try checking the ETM, maybe it can help you with the location.

you need to pull the plastic peice off under the dash and look up high i recommend taking your seat out or your back will hurt like a mother. but it is under the dash on the left side way up there

Same problem, brake circuit failure. The manual only say underdash left side.
I did see a few things with wires & plugs, but I have no clue if one of the is what I'm looking for. It should have 17 or more wires connected to it most should be large gage wires, but that's about all I know.:help

Sure, I had high hopes that the switch would do the trick, but no luck.
New switch, old problem! I also fixed the wiring in the truck, & checked for now EU bulbs. I cleaned all of the bulbs and connections in the trunk. They were all clean! I have tried beating and thumping on everything, not a blink, and none of that will trip a code. But everytime I drive it some bump or pot hold with set it off. I'm not even sure I have my foot on the brake sometimes!
Typically if I can drive on smooth road, it does not trip. Sometimes pot holes do not trip it, but usually if the light trips, I have just hit a bump. :help
So what does the CCM look like, and where it that pig?

it's VERY far wedged up in there near the back. When you find it, you'll know.
Also, http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=203520 will tell you where to find the CCM.
