Ok guys, my brakes squeal like crazy.  I don't know what to do. I heard that if you do a hard stop from 40 it should take care of the squealing for a little while, but I tried that and it doesn't work. I've asked some people and they said just don't worry about it, but it's a bitch. Should I just let it be, any easy way out besides getting new brakes? Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem, too. The pads and rotors were fine, it was just that the brakes were squealing a lot. I ended using some BMW Plastilube (P/N #81 22 9 407 103) on the backside of the pads to stop the squeal. You will need about 2 packets: 1 for the front set and 1 for the back set.

However, some people have reported that this is only a temporary solution as the squeals come back after a few months while others have not. But those few months without the squeals are great! ;)

are you sure your pads aren't just worn? If they are new, just go buy some anti squeal brake compound, its at almost any auto store.

CRC - Disk Brake Quiet.
Pink/Orange stuff comes in a little bottle.

Yup.. I used the CRC spray on stuff on my Hawk HPS pads and they've been totally quiet since installation (~10 months). Their probably not the loudest pads to begin with, but I wouldn't expect this stuff to work miracles or really loud pads.
You might give one of these anti-squeal compounds a shot and make sure your pads have some thickness to them while you're in there.

Absolutely....I've had it on 2 M3's.... it's only really low-speed braking... I think it's pretty common place for e36 M3s, and those that aren't affected with it, are just lucky!
I've always heard switching to aftermarket pads to make a huge difference!

One other thing to look for besides the VERY GOOD advice given about the anti-squeal, is that BMW pads dust like crazy and that dust gets everywhere.
This includes behind the pad and it sticks to the rotors, this causes a large percentage of the squeal and squeak complaints. This can be cured (for a little while) just by cleaning the brakes with brake cleaner and a compressed air blast.

Yep, my E36/M3 sounds like an 18 wheeler coming to a stop at a traffic light. Didn't realize it was common.
Also, my brakes seem to be over sensitive at slow speeds - like super power brakes - real touchy. Is this common too?

Is that stuff bad for the paint?

What stuff?
anti-squeal? Perfectly safe
brake cleaner? Perfectly safe
brake dust? Safe until it oxidizes and bonds to the paint, then you have to work you ass off to clean it. Some brake compounds are more corrosive than others.

Guys I have a 328is with stock brakes except the fronts have M3 rotors, just got new brake pads and rotors 2 months ago and mine squeal at low speed too. So I need to get some brake rotor lubricant?
