Just wondering what causes the snakebite holes in the top next to the rear window and if there is a fix for it. I would like to take some preventative measures.

i know EXACTLY what he's talking about. I have 4 of them on my drivers side..in the fabric (obviously) behind the rear drivers side window.

Still not sure what exactly you are talking about...are the holes in the top or the headliner? I have something similar but its in the headliner.

Mine have been there since I've bought the car and haven't gotten any worse.

LOL!

I bought my vert with them too. I've had it a year and a half and it hasn't gotten worse. I think friction against the frame when the top is down causes it...but that's just a guess.

Mine are 4 small..almost tiny..holes in the outer fabric. Almost in a square like pattern. Two top...about 2 inchese apart...and two below them..about 2 inches apart. And only on the drivers side. Go figure.

I have a few of them too :( I think it's where the hinges in the top are - the fabric gets trapped in those areas.

Maybe these holes are:

"Another possible customer complaint is that there are two small holes in the top fabric in
the lower "C" pillar area. These complaints can all be caused by the same basic problem
with the top."

In a BMW SB regarding the lid hitting the roof.
