Tune up time

318i over 300k miles…will not go over 40 mph (starts hesitating very bad) and engine back firing. Spark plugs have never been changed. Any suggestions?

Are you the original owner? If not, and you just bought the car, I'd rebuild it... odds are, if the spark plugs were never changed, the oil, trans fluid, coolant, diff fluid, and other misc. belts and hoses weren't looked after too well either. Just a hunch on my part, but I'd prefer to be on the safe side! Just do it yourself if you can and save the money, unless you have a good indy mech who'll do it cheap.
