I hope you used nothing but a bucked filled directly from a tap! :winknudge
My car is filthy. Damn water restrictions!
Back on topic, Nice clean cars. To the OP, +1 on a drop.

Speaking of water restrictions, has anyone ever tried those waterless car wash products?

ew... seems bad for the car... to me, it's like pooring gasoline onto the paint. well, it is, actually. i took a look at the ingredients list for one of them, and one of them was "hydrocarbons". so ya... doesn't work for me, although they do work in their own right.
i probably used about 5 buckets worth of high quality dihydrogen monoxide too. 1/2 bucket for soap, and the rest to rinse the car down:) then of course, klasse high quality glaze helps immensely:)
i was thinking about a drop, but i can only do it in the front atm (the rear will rub against the fender unless i get body work done on it).

Wait, why does the front bumper need to be remounted?

yea i suggest getting different tires and then do the drop..becuase it looks liek you got some off roading tires on them..hah

no, two exhaust tips says it's an I6 and not an I4.
lol... ya, i thought they were off-road tires too after i got them. I had no clue what they'd look like at all. I just told the tire place to give me a set of yoko's. then that showed up. eh, at least they work ok. i'm sure they'll start looking more like road tires after putting some more miles on it; they only have 2k miles atm. as for dropping, i've definitely decided on dropping fronts only. even if i do fender work on the rears, the tires will sink into the wheel well, and i never liked the look of that.

To the OP...drop wheel size. Those must be 18" or 19". They look ridiculous. Get some 17" and non off-road tires.

no way 18's look nice...its all about the tire profile and how the car sits!
strogg

actually, the wheels are 17's. hopefully, the tires won't look so bad after 10k miles... that is, if i don't keep replacing them. i already replaced the front right after 2k miles due to a sidewall rip. thank god for road hazard warranties:) and i'm definitely keeping the wheel/tire combo for now, since this is the ONLY time in the life of the bimmer that the speedometer is 100% balls-on accurate. from 20-120mph, it's completely matched 1-1 with my gps navigator.
but ya, thanks for all the suggestions. i'll definitely heed almost all of them... (tires are expensive, so maybe not that one just yet)
and seriously, am i one of the few people who think a car too low looks too much like a pimp-mobile? i'm not saying all dropped e36's look like them, but some do, and so will mine if i drop the rear.

well its a bmw not a honda...so having a lowered bmw actually makes sense and serves a purpose, it also looks nice IMO...and the wearing of the tires isnt gonna do much about the size of your tires...speaking of which, wats the tire size on those?
strogg
03-14-2007, 04:41 AM
225/40r17 and 255/35r17. i'm not doubting that dropping the car serves a purpose. i know it does serve a purpose; it's just that it may look funky on some cars depending on the setup. well, we'll see. next tires, though, will definitely be 245's or maybe a bit smaller. either that or not go yokohama's... i'm definitely not listening to my friend again :confused

03-14-2007, 05:06 AM
damn 255's huh...that explains it..lol i just thought that the height was too big like 50's not 35's...well idk wat to say, you'll be fine tho, if you dont feel like lowering it then i suggest getting a new exhaust system..lol

Pardon the thread jack, but anyone here use Meguiar's? I use Quick Detailer on an almost daily basis... <--- Good or Bad?
I just absolutely hate the greasy fingerprints people leave, and the mud left behind when moist air mix with the dust from all the casinos being built here...

That stuff is just about pure silicon - just keep that in mind. Silicon use does have it's down side, even though it looks good not the best thing to use long term.

Good for you man... Let me know what you get and how it goes...
I'm so far just using their Quick Wax... I only get like 2 hours a weekend with my work schedule to wax my baby... :(
But I do get to squeeze in an hour every day to keep her neat and tidy...

It's just that, if you read my previous post, I don't have much time for my baby... But at the same time I wouldn't want her to look like crap... It's bad enough that I can't do that many mods with the laws here... Most I can do is keep her shiny...
