hi i was wondering if it is labelled anywhere on my car, the 318is 1994 if the engine is the m40 or the m42? anyone have any ideas?

Go to www.realoem.com (http://www.realoem.com) and enter your vin.
Edit: Just checked: M42

The 1.8 16v is a m42. 1.9 16v (1996 onwards) is a m44. have a look on the chassis plate, on the left side u will see the engine size. Yours will be a m42
