I drive an auto and my dad had the notion that my cooling system went bad because I chipped the car....he's car stupid but he is my dad so i had to accede to his requests in taking it the chip.

with the chip gone, my accleration is undoubtedly slower.... To ensure maximum acceleration during a race, at what RPM should I shift at...using the M button. PLEASE NO DICUSSION on the use of the m button....it allows me to control my shift points during a race so thats why I use it..

With max torque at 4200 and max hp at 5900, I consider the powerband to be between 3200 and 5900--althought im probably wrong..

What RPM should I shift at the get the fastest 0-60.

heres what i'm thinking

1.) the shift point should be within the powerband
2.) the shift point should be such that, when the car shifts to second the RPM's drop somewhere near 3200-3500 for a good amount of acceleration
3.) I WANT THE FASTEST WAY TO ACCELERATE...should be the same in an auto that is using m mode...and a plain manual (which is superior, thats not the debate PLEASE NO DISCUSISON)

Thanks

Just put it in 3rd and in M and leave it at that or do a tranny swap. and you shouldnt be racing and put your chip back in your dad if he is car stupid will not notice.

thanks for the reply , but the m button there is solely for one reason...to control shift points occasionally. I know a manual tranny is ideal, but regardless of tranny what is the optimal shift points for first gear into second...

thanks

How do you use the M button to do it your way? How will I know if my M button even works or not. Please don't call me car stupid. Just call me life stoned.

Dont use the M button. Doing so will quickly put you in the market for a new Transmission. The M button is not, contrary to popular belief, suppose to be used as a way to turn your car into a "manual".

All you need to do is leave it in "A", click it down to 3 (Sport program for the tranny) and hit the gas. Then when you have wound out 3rd gear, click up to D. This will shift the car at the best points (redline) for each gear. Considering that when you use M it takes almost an entire second for the car to shift it would be really easy to hit the rev limit, which is no bueno

The ONLY time I would ever use M would be a rolling start if you want to keep your engine from shifting.

I'm pretty sure if you have the pedal to the floor it's going to shift at redline am I correct?

I'm pretty sure thats what the button is that gets pressed when the pedal is through the floor is for.

SchwartzII325is, why is it that you post a new thread every day about how to make your car go faster, or run better, or shift better etc? Why don't you stop trying to drag-race your car, and drive like a normal, civillized human being? There really is no point in trying to optimize your shift points manually. Your car will achive that better than you really are capable of.

do a neutral drop while redlining the engine

Hey, he's just trying to learn about his car; don't bust his balls. I too wondered what the M button did back when I first got my car.

i think 9 years away (the time it would take for you to complete medical school) is a bit of a stretch to start saying what you may and may not have, you could fail, drop out, find out you dont wanna be a doc, go broke, get shot, or perhaps not get a great job after medical school. personally im planning on being a laywer but im not about to start saying im gonna shit on anyone with the porsche im years from getting and may never get, just cuz you want an M5 and think you may have the money by then your priorities may change

Yeah M5 , if M5 is code for 3 or 4 M5's in debt. Also why dont you just read around , search the forums for questions like this . Read your owners manual also

haha schwarzII325is is a fag. i am 19 and my first car was a manual. in my short 3 year driving span i have owned 7 different cars, all manual. i am not rich, i just work alot of hours while going to college and get hookups in the auto world. and about medical school, do you know how much that costs? you will be paying back those bills way before you buy a brand new bimmer. and fuck the M5, its slow as shit. unless it runs 11s or faster, and i doubt it will, it is a slow car. you need to go buy an exotic car for upwards of $300k if you want to beat any of my cars.
