Will a 235/45/17 fit on a front Contour (17x7.5) without problems?

Yes, you should be fine, isn't that the OEM tire size, or is it 225 maybe

Will fit just fine. Hardly 5mm wider on each side.

The OEM is 225/45/17 for the wheels, just wanted to make sure I could get the 235's on without a problem.

I would do 235/40

Yes, you can fit 235s on there. 235/45 may rub, however.

225/45 is the size from the factory 96-99. On 95s they had 235/40/17 allaround, which fits fine, but is slightly out of specs for most tire brands.

BTW some people even run 255/40 race tires on the stock fronts, but it is obviously not an ideal fitment.

No problem! I know a guy Who runs 245 on 7,5 wheels. Its not as good looking that if he were running 225 or 215 but it works just fine!

Check the specs from the manufacturer of the tire you want to get, they specify the recommended wheel widths for the tire.

like others have said...you have two options for a 7.5" wheel....225/45/17 or 235/40/17. Don't consider any other sizes.

for a 8.5" wheel, the best size is 245/40/17. You can squeeze a 255/40/17 on it, but be prepared to roll the rear fender lips if you get rubbing.
