Here is a forum that has threads discussing the date, road rally route, pics, etc.:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=28

It looks like it may be April 12th this year.

This is at the 101/154 junction in Santa Barbara County. The cars on the right are coming North on Hwy 101 while the cars on the left are headed back to S.B. on 154 :)

scottn2retro
01-22-2003, 07:31 PM
This is at the Refugio Road exit ramp off Hwy 101 heading West just outside of Santa Barbara where the cars gathered outside of the city to start the caravan up 101. We were among the early groups to get there. I think eventually the on ramp in the distance filled up with cars as well.

Look for the annual Bay Bimmerz Caravan that will be announced here and by evite, sometime in the future. (right Jay)
Everybody from the Bay and Northward are welcome to join the caravan, the more the better.

If your not on the Bay Bimmerz email/evite list, email baybimmerz@hotmail.com and ask to be added. (right Jay)

Shafer posted a thread asking what people thought about having it on the 12th - there was already a big LA BMW CCA event at the end of the month and the 19th is Easter weekend. But I don't a date has been 'officially' announced.

everybody needs to come out to this event. this is seriously the biggest bimmer event on the west coast.

Jay Sulon and I have been out drinking a several times but I haven't seen or heard from him in probably a couple months. I need to give him a call and see what he's up to, most likely busy being a new dad. If I had to guess I'd say he's still got the M3.

Anywaaays...before this thread goes way off topic...anyone know if there's a date confirmed for Bimmerfest yet? We should all try to get a spot at the same hotel. If I remember correctly we all waited too long last year and everyone ended up all over Santa Barbara.

serious... i think the last time i saw jay and vinh was at the dyno spot racing meet.

anyway, about the hotel/motel, keith emailed me and said a some people will be booking at the Sand Man Inn. last year, vinh and myself stayed at Best Western Carpinteria Inn, which is about 10 min south of santa barbara. even though it's a best western, it was pretty nice with a good rate.

It's a one day deal for people in SoCal - it's a long day, but as long as you don't try to take the 101 home thru the valley on Sat. night (Take Topanga Canyon of the 101 to PCH), you'll be okay. Just put in for April 12th off now. :D

I think B'fest combines some of the best features of both kinds of meets.

It's free (and lunch is even provided) with a casual atmosphere and a great road rally (of like hundreds of cars) that you would find in a small local get together.

It has seminar/demos, some vendors and show cars and a charity raffle like you'll find at the larger admission type gatherings.

The road rally from Cutter Motors and back should be HUGE. A few people go the reverse route and wait on highway 154 so they can see and film the huge train of cars going by. The gathering points at Refugio Road and the 101/154 junction offer great photo ops.

I'm still on the fence about going, and now I'm seeing rain in the weekend forecast, especially for SB. If it rains most of the fun stuff is going to be kinda lame, isn't it?
