Im ready to start tinkering with the Mini's engine. Ive been looking at a few different pulleys from Alta. I under stand the concept of pulley diameter/boost pressure. What im am wondering is, whats the difference between using charger pulleys vs. crank pulleys, You can increase boost pressure either way... so which is better. How much boost can you push without ecu/fuel upgrades? How much power can you safely make with crossing the line and causing reliability or engine life issues.

Does any have any suggested combo's not involving ecu mods?

I'm looking for a good pulley/intake/exhaust upgrade that
can safely make the engine compete with a jcw car.

The first generation Cooper S can still have more HP than the latest JCW MINI. With the addition of the Stage 2 kit from Mini Mania, you have an easy 210+ HP that has great balance and performance. Mini Mania has 32 years experience tuning and racing the Minis of all generations.

it only takes a couple of bolt ons to keep up with if not beat a jcw. As far as sc pulleys vs crank pulleys its debatable to some but you will get the most bang for the buck from the sc reduction pulleys.

*roughly you can expect
15% pulley - approx. 15psi
17% pulley - approx. 16.5psi
19% pulley - approx. 17.5-18psi

Technically you can also use the 17% and 19% pulleys without upgrading the ecu and injectors. Of course you would gain more if you decided to do those as well. If you're trying to decide on pulley sizes, then it depends how you plan to use the car. If its a street car then you'll be fine with any of the sizes, if you plan on tracking it and will be revving high for extended periods then just stick with the 15%.

For the package you're looking for you can find a bunch of vendors on northamericanmotoring.com
good luck!
