So I ordered the ASA AR1's with tires and I assumed they were going to send me 225/17/45's because that's what everyone seems to use with 17's and what's recommended on their website but they sent me 215/45/17's instead!
They said that 225/45/17's would rub on a 95 318is but there's so much gap I don't see how it would rub. Plus the tire looks a little stretched as well.
I want to try send them back and make them pay for freight.
Any suggestions or words of wisdom? They said they would get back to me. I haven't and am not going to use them until I hear what they say.

Good luck man. The key word is "assumed." That one word gets so many people screwed.

They wont pay for shipping. I'm sure they wrote somewhere what tires they were going to put on your rims. You might be able to get them to swap the tires out if you havnt driven them and you shipped them back. I have 245/40/17 On mine no problem (rear) and 225/45/17 front.

i called them once cuz only 3 of the 4 tires ordered came in, and they sent me another for free, arrived the next morning ... and then a few days later, the original 4th came in ...

their service is great ... they'll replace them

tire rack is a good company. I'd be surprised if they don't support you. PM me if you end up having trouble. I have a friend there. There may not be anything he can do, but sometimes a contact can help.

The TireRack is very sensitive to content posted on message boards -- they don't want their names being dragged through the dirt in places that get this much exposure among enthusiasts.

Having said that, go to the wheel & tire forum and PM the TireRack rep there. Tell him someone else is aware of your issue, but you want to know what the current status is and you want this handled as quickly as possible.

I would think that from technical stand point, the 215/45/17 has closer outside diameter to the stock tire size of a 318. 225/45/17 is quite tall, even taller than 245/40/17 (not to mention 235/40/17). Coupled with the fact that 17" wheel/tire combo is heavier than the stock combo (less acceleration), personally I'd rather take the 215/45 or 235/40 over the 225/45. The car will use slightly less fuel as well.

But then again, that's from the technical stand point. If appearance is all you are looking for, might as well get 245/40/17. Nothing like fat, wide and meaty tires. Car will corner like it's on rails, but acceleration and gas mileage will suffer.

You should have called me in the first place. I am not aware of the order but if you email me I can look into it. I am not sure what size you asked for originally either. I sell the customer what they want. If I think they may rub I would let you know but if you wanted the 225/45R17 I know that you can make them fit.
Let me know.

Yeah wait till they get back to you before you post, maybe try asking a person from tirerack than a person on the forums they probably have a better grasp of the situation.
