What do you guys think about putting these rims on my car?
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=663848<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

Mine are slightly bent and causing a vibration. They have to be fixed or replaced and I can buy a used set of these in good condition cheaper than fixing mine. I know the bolt pattern will fit and plan on using my existing tires. Just want some opinions whether the X5 wheels would look weird on an e34.

My esthetic opinion is No. Though you could do a lot worse. The design would flow reasonably well with E34 lines, but the lack of deepdish is what would stop me from putting those on.

Aside from looks, I suspect that X5 wheels have different offsets than what the E34 needs. I don't actually remember what that offset is, though. You'll also need smaller tires than X5 OEM, since the whole wheel is probably smaller on the E34.

X5 wheels offset is too high for th e34. If you are looking for BMW original wheels...look for wheels from othe 5/6/7/8/Z8 BMWs. These models share the same:
* 5x120 wheel bolt pattern
* 11mm - 28mm wheel offset range
* 72.56 wheel hub diameter ( EXCEPT the e39 5 series which has a larger 74.1mm hub)

BMW 3/Z3/Z4/X3/X5 wheels don't fit without modification because they have a wheel offset range between 35mm - 48mm.

For example, the BMW Star Spoke 57 wheel you posted is a 7"x17" wheel with a 40mm wheel offset. Here's a link to the online parts database that gives you the specs for this wheel: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=FA53&mospid=47745&btnr=36_0418&hg=36&fg=15

You'd need 20mm spacers, but I bet it would half way cool. I kinda like those wheels on 3 series. They look similar to the old Torque Thrusts.

Qsilver7, you never let anyone down with all your knowledge and visuals. Thanks for being such a great asset.:buttrock

Qsilver, you da man. Thanks for the detailed writeup.

I'll have to see how much more 4 spacers will set me back.

Good call, you may also look into spacers that come with studs on them. Im not sure if you can get those in a 20mm or not.
