Hey guys I'm a pretty new BMW owner and this is the first problem I've had. Anyways, I'll try and describe the problem as best I can.

Tonight I came home, and I wanted to wash off the top of my car because I have a roof rack that I use for when I go snowboarding. I got done washing it and took it down to the end of my neighborhood and as I turned around to come back up to my house my car hesitated then kind of bucked and for a second it was ok again, then the RPM went to nothing and the car died, lucky for me I was moving fairly good and was able to coast back to my house. I tried starting it again once I was at a standstill and it just cranks but doesn't start. My first thought is fuel pump. I took out one of my spark plugs and it wasn't wet. I tried to test it and see if I was getting spark but, if I did it right, there was no spark. I had my dad tow me up into the garage and once we got up there, I stuck the key back in and tried to start it again, just for the heck of it. It actually started, but it kind of sounded like there was a knock, maybe it was just me, but I shut it off as soon as I heard that. Now it wont start. I'm leaning towards thinking its the fuel pump.

Any help would be appreciated. I did search and found some helpful things to check but I wanted to post my specific problem. Thanks.

Welcome to the boards. The first thing you should learn is how to use the search function. It will anwser many,if not all of your questions. It sounds like water made its way into the DME. Follow this link, it should anwser all of your questions, concerns and solutions. Good luck!

I've researched the problem and i was pretty convinced it was a flooded DME/ECU. My car is getting spark and its also getting fuel. So I eliminated those 2 problems and pulled out my ECU, and it was dry. Now im confused.

i used that link to pull out my ecu, and like i said it was dry. where do i go from here?

How exactly are you testing for spark and fuel?

I pull out the spark plug after a few times of cranking. The spark plug smells like fuel and has a little on the end. To test for spark i keep out the spark plug and grounded the bottom of the plug, had my dad crank the engine and it sparked.
