One of the best sources for technical information on MINIs is the NAM forum (www.northamericanmotoring.com (http://www.northamericanmotoring.com)). Remember to use the search tool available in each category/thread, as this question probably has been asked and answered many times.

Another good forum to frequent is MINI2 (www.MINI2.com (http://www.mini2.com)). This is more of an international forum rather than being predominantly North American, but I find the international perspective to be refreshing.

Good luck and welcome!

You'll find that your first mod should be the Supercharger pulley. It's the biggest bang for your buck. I've installed over a 100 of them.

I will take it you have a Cooper not an S Cooper? Welcome and you will love it either way. Make the trip to Minis on the Dragon and you will be hooked for life.

congrats on getting the mini. If you have a cooper i believe there use to be a turbo kit a while back but it was discontinued...

The issues are mainly with the first years as I have heard. 2005's and up are very reliable. My 05 has been great only prob i have had was busted turn signal that was about an hour to fix.

yah i wouldnt supercharge or turbo a reg mini there is some diffrences in the mini and mini s engines such and valvesand cams.

ive heard the reg mini engine can oly handle 150hp or so.

someone did turbo a mini blew the motor
they did it again and reduced the compression still motor blew.

this is what scares me about turboing mine.

MOTD is the first weekend in May.

As for making a MINI fast... you pretty much HAVE to start with an S. A Cooper is going to take far, far too much time, money and effort. I'm pretty active on the big MINI boards and I don't personally know of any fast MC's. Tons of ass-kicking S's though (mine included). There could be some out there that I haven't heard about yet, but every attempt I've seen has not turned out so well.

what's everyone's thoughts on the new turbo vs building an older mcs?

The old mcs's are cheap 12-15k, vs 30k for a new one
