Hi I know very little about 2k2's but was thinking of picking one up for cheap and restoring it, as i was searching i came across this beauty.

Just wondering if anyone can verify it as a turbo by looking at the engine shot.
thanks in advance

I agree, does not look like a turbo. It's not a good angle though. Better to have a front view to see the exhaust manifold.

It's definitly not a Turbo. It is however a tii. Tii's are pretty nice when tuned properly and when compared to a standard carbureted '02 are quiet a bit quicker. They feature a mechanical fuel injection system(instead of a carburetor) and higher compression. There are other diffrences like the mechanical advance dist., larger brakes and bearing carriers on the front struts. Check out the tii registry for a more detailed list of diffrences.

Its not a turbo but a nice tii (for the price!). If it runs I'd consider it -- looks mostly rust free.

The engine shot shows the tii air intake tubes, mechanical fuel injection and the huge tii air box

No where on the page does it say its a turbo.

Here is a page with pics of what the turbo looks like

haha yeh - from memory, it also needed a new rear panel (or some panel beating). Im sure it would scrub up alright with the right amount of money. 02's with sunroofs are hard to find in Oz.

Maybe if you have the time go and check it out? When i drove it (a year or so ago), it pulled well but the 2nd gear syncro was gone. It definitely needs a respray and body work so just make them a lowball offer like 74tii said...

You could pick it up for cheap! If you need a guy for bodywork, I know a guy in Greensborough who should be able to help you out.
