While I read most of the E34 modding stories, the ones related to touring have special interest for me.
Take a look through this thread, he definitely created something that very few have:

a lot of the guys just do not post any more but will check in from time to time, as to where they are I can't answer that. I don't usually post my mods and its not the most modded but, here you go:
1993 525i auto
dinan tranny chip
eat power chip (engine)
ecis e36 cold air intake
supersprint exhaust with res delete
e34 m5 front brakes w/ zimmermann cross drilled rotors
e34 m5 rear brake calipers(not installed)
mintek pads
oem e38 m-pars 18x8 f and 19x9.5 r
bilstien sport shocks, eibach springs
hartge strut brace
front and rear mtec bumpers & side skirts(not installed)
euro bumper trim
euro ellipsiod headlights (not installed)
e34 mtec 370mm steering wheel
e36 m3 vaders
black carbon fiber pedals & footrest
alpine in dash m3 player, alpine type r 6.5 componemts
kicker comp 12" sub
m5 rear headrest (not installed)
now that I have an 01 530 sport,I am debating on finishing the e34 or selling the reamainning parts and
modding the 530.
If i keep going on the e34 I will shadowline it, powder coat or gunmetal the mpars and go smoked all around. If not I will sell the parts I have left and leave it as is.

My 535i probably takes the prize for the most mods. Its been both supercharged and turbocharged. But most of my mods have been race oriented.
Here's a breakdown of the specs on the car from last years. I haven't revised the list for this year. Redfive's Specs in PDF (http://redfivemotorsport.com/2006BMWspecs.pdf)
Sharing mods list is a great idea because I had no idea E36 Vaders could work in an E34.

Hmmm, I have the black manual Vaders, but didn't go forth witht he install . I found them to look SO CURVEY in the cabin they felt out of place to me,JMHO.
I had just R&R'd the drivers seat to check it out when I noticed the look.
How do you like the fit and feel with them whilst driving and cornering ? That was the main reason I bought mine, was the idea they would enhance this.
Also, what is your height and weight ? This plays a part in the evaluation. I'm 6'1" at 220lbs.
Thanks for the pix BTW.

we are similar in build, im 6'1 at 200lbs.
my daily comute is only 30min so for that or on spirited driving they are nice but on a long trip they would probably get uncomfortable.
My only real issue is the seat bottom thigh area, because of the side bolsters you kind of have to keep your legs closed, but like anything else you get used to it.

That is an impressive list. You definitely have me beat in the ICE department. My car had quite the setup 8 years ago, back before PCs, X-boxes, and TVs were the norm. I personally don't see the need for that in a car like this, since it is the toy and is better than a video game(when it runs right).
Not to escalate this, but my car has had 3 different engines in it after I pulled the stock one. An NA tuned M30 push 210rwhp in addition to the supercharged and turbocharged engines. Short of Pat P I think I've got everyone beat in the engine department. Same with the suspension and brakes.
Where did you get the Alcantara? I'm thinking about doing that as part of my interior upgrade (the last refresh was 6 years ago and some of the stuff is faded)

this turned into a real dick measuring contest. lol. so who's the biggest???? jk
My car is a little more simply modded. still on the original engine and suspension. (if the shit aint broken why fix it??). As for the Engine, it is a supercharged m50 vanos currently running 6psi, with methanol injection. Has the 3.5hfm too, and is tuned for it. Interior is bone stock, just the way I like it. Outside just euro bumper trim, clear corners, painted hella tails (all red), some m-tech mirrors, m5 rear plate surround, and beyern mesh 17x8 all around, wrapped in falken ziex (they grip pretty decent, they take me round 20mph rated turns at over 45mph without making a noise.) All I really want to do is suspension upgrades from here, and bump the boost up to about 8psi. Not the most modded but on its way to being maybe in the top 20.

Great links. I would love to find a forum that is more based around the performance of the E34, where this forum seems to be more based around the styling and maintenance of the cars. Not that I'm complaining, this forum is a great resource for many things but is sometimes lacking in the performance department. Then again I am fairly new to this board.
I do notice however that many people seem to consider an E34 with different wheels and clear signals to be "modded". Though they look nice there isn't much modified there. I, for one, have a number of things on my car like 6500K HID, shadowline grills, front plate delete, no badges in the back, full stereo, iPod integration, etc. and still consider the car to be stock. But thats just me.
On the other hand I struggled to find an E34 in any of the links above that didn't look nice (aside from the one with vertical doors).

Those crazy Thais. There are two cars on there with 2JZGTE engines. One of them with an auto gearbox! WTF!
There aren't a lot of people out there with E34s that do performance mods. Its sort of a niche in a niche. However there does seem like there are a good number of people here with FI. Performance mods are $$$$ and the parts are hard to come by.

Did you buy a SC kit or part it together?? I would be interested to know as everyone always says no on FI for a Vanos motor.

I know you're not going for a balls to the wall racer but I'm curious what kind of ball park figures you're getting from the M50.
Stock conrods, stock compression .etc?

My dyno is in my sig!
:)
Right now I am 10.0:1 stock forged rods stock pistons. By the late spring I will be doing my other non vanos motor 8.3:1 CR mls gasket stock forged rods stock pistongs and about 20 psi - 25 psi is my goal then.
I am not a big fan of dynos only because where I am from, Dyno X can read 350hp and Dyno Y down the street can read 440 :rolleyes I am skeptical about a lot of dynos over on the FI portion here, but whichever.
The car as it is now is quite fast. It'll spin 2nd and 3rd if you're being aggressive. 5th gear from 60 mph I can hit 80 without realizing it. The highway power is reall nce.

Hey JonK and Redfive........where did you tap in for your pressure oil feed line for the turbo on your mods ?
Then reason I ask......I fabbed a oil filter cover replacement disc for mine on the lathe from billet. Its thick enough of a crown for tapping for a feed port if this source/position will work ?
(OT.....but at least its about performance mods and NOT a frickin' seat back !:shifty)
Mine looks similiar to this>>>>
5mall5nail5

I have a oil block at the oil pressure sensor. Tapping the lid like that will result in your turbo/supercharger receiving "unfiltered" oil. Meaning, it goes from the pan to the canister and down the center of the filter - tapping there means its going to that turbo/supercharger from the oil pan without ever passing the filter...

Alrighty then. Thats where I have done my other T cars at ( the sensor block).....I was hoping the BMW resivour was the reverse of what you mentioned as far as flow goes.Humph !:shifty

Mine looks similiar to this>>>>
I would like to know this too as I also have access to a lathe. But it's better to go from the sending block in order to send filtered oil to the turbo? I assume for oil return you guys just tapped the pan? It's good to see some pictures of these setups finally, I've been slowly gathering information with the hopes to put together a some-what mild single turbo setup for my non-vanos M50 by the end of this year.
Hey UrineMachine do you have any pictures of your exhaust manifold? I haven't seen a setup that puts the turbo that far forward in the engine bay before. I would think that makes things a bit easier when it comes to intake and intercooler pipe routing.

You can feed it from the VANOS port or from an ODB off of a sender port on the back of the filter housing. Non-euro (read no oil cooler feed) M50/S50/S52 filter housings can be picked up cheap used. You may also be able to remove one of the plugs in the non-VANOS housing and access the same passage the VANOS would normally use.

Hey its an ebay SS Autochrome E36 manifold but my turbo is too large to fit in a bottom mount setup so I created a stainless steel "up pipe" ala Porsche, Subaru, etc., in order to position the turbo up top. Here is an image:

Actually, mine is a little bigger than that 60-1/T4 since I have the S2+ setup with the SC-61. But that's definitely a large turbo.

I was going to sell them as a package for $450 shipped... I'll do $200 shipped on the kmac's and $200+ shipping for anyone interested in the 2 konis... I can't recall exactly (you can search my old for sale posts) but both have around 5-7k miles on them I believe.
FYI... kmacs were purchased from Turner for 299+ tax/shipping and konis were purchased from tirerack for $167 each + tax/shipping.

I know some of you guys think I made my car uglier by adding the Seidl bumper, but I personaly think it's one of the best looking after-market bumpers out there.
