I was installing new fogs on my car, and decided to do the cut off look, but I'm stuck on the project, because someone told me that I had to bend two little brackets, but my headlights don't have them. what's the other way to do it if possible looking at my headlights

the cut off is how the light shines out of the projector.
zkws have a 45 degree angle(uptick) he wants to make the light beam flat horizonally.

Ok, I don't get this. Does the cut off mod is the same as the color mod? I finished the installed a couple of hours ago, but I'm not sure if I did it right, I couldn't move the car right now, but the cut off seem to be more linear than it was before, but I was wondering about the color mod, is this the same thing, or do I need to do something else, am I missing something?

Here is what I did as kpipalldaway2 said, I just bend those little metal things to make them

Did I do it right, because I was reading in the first page of that other thread, that you have to bend the shield from the middle so the shield is closer to the bulb :dunno:

This is what Doodle posted which seems to be different than what kpipalldaway2 said

To Heck's request, I'm gonna write a VERY short write up on how to bend the shield on the projector. (I have to pick up my M3 mirrors in a bit :stickoutt)

I'm assuming that you've taken out your headlight and know how to take off the glass lens (it's not hard, you'll figure that out easily). Remove the back of the lowbeam covers and you'll notice 3 philips head screws, take those out. From here, you can do a few things:

---> Shield Bending: Now that the 3 screws are out, you can take out the bottom half of the projector unit. This unit will have a shield right in front of the bulb. What you want to do here is take your thumb, and place it on the middle section of the shield (the pointy tip) and push it slightly towards the HID bulb. Experiment with this to your desire, but you want to push it little by little, don't push it so much to the point where you want to bend it back a bit more.

color mod and cut off mod are completely different. the color mod is what i was explaining to you above the cut off sheild is putting the peice of metal on your projector so it your light beam is straight... pm me if u have any more questians, and with the color modding that is just the way i did it, there are many different ways

somewhat off topic... its projector swap time.

i have X5 projectors in my ZKWs - they fit perfectly into that chromed plastic mounting bracket.

whoa, your PEPs look exactly like the ones i made years ago! Seeing those pics takes me back to when i was creating them. That was some fun. God i miss my ZKWs. Oh and if you're calling them "Projector Mods ®," they've already been dubbed PEPs. Short for Projector Enhancement Plates.

d2s? i believe so, its been a while though.

thats what most projector HIDs seem to have. im not sure what else they would use. d1s perhaps?

i like your black shroud. post some pics of that with the light all put together and installed when you get a chance, por favor.

the cutoff is easy

when you look at the shield in front
you notice it goes across then slopes down then continues across again

you want to cover that area with metal so you have a complete horizontal shield

Isn't the uptick the part that illuminates signs? Why would you want to get rid of that?

yeah that's what I imagined that had to be done, what about the color moding? Do you have any advise for that?

not get rid of it, but make it all horizontal, plus I seem to be blinding people, I haven't had people flashing their highbeams at me yet, but they sure do look pissed when I see them through their sideview mirror lol

Hey sorry I'm late, don't frequent the forums much. Hmm for color, all you have to do is put your finger and push the center of the shield towards the bulb, slightly bending it. Do this till you reach the color cutoff that you like.

Don't bother with any "washer mod" for color on the ZKWs, I haven't had great results with that, just decreased vision. If you don't know about the washer mod, don't bother. ;)

I've never done anything with flattening the cutoff, but I'd expect it to how kosta described it. Good luck with your project man! :P

My beams and cutoff are totally off on my ZKWs, and I'm blinding people right and left (I had some asshole in a civic turn on his flashers in front of me the other day.. even though he was the only guy in the left lane anyways.. I pass him and he gets behind me and throws on his high beams and leaves them on! I slammed on my brakes and so does he haha.. on a 3 lane highway. He finally has to go and I manage to get behind him. I waited about 5 seconds then threw on my high beams - which he thought I had on the whole time haha. I was practically throwing an outline of his head on trees/signs and stuff in front of us.) I don't blame myself, they weren't THAT bad.

Anyways.

Can someone link me to the "enhancement plate" thread and the "cutoff enhancement" thread? I've been searching for a while. :(

no i bet he knew u didnt have highbeams on, im pretty sure he was highbeaming u so u kno how it feels because ur headlights are doing it to him and other ppl...

i hate when ppls HIDs are either too high(SUVs) or retrofitted into non HID headlights are behind me. my whole cockpit is lighted up, the light is shining on my eyes from the rearview and the sideview mirrors... i pull to a different lane and let those fuckers pass...

and this is y ppl mod their cutoffs so u dont inconvenience other drivers.

the enhancement plate is jus a cover that goes around the projector. because the zkws have a reflector behind it, a lot of glare escapes around the projector shineing everywhere.

No way, people always think I have my high beams on (even with perfect aiming.) I remember 4 or so years ago when I first got HIDs and they were semi-rare, people flipped out constantly.

Every now and then you get middle-aged/older people that think you're just highbeaming them.
