Up for sale is a black on black 95 m3. It was origanaly a cali car. It has a 5 speed. I am selling due to a overrev by myself. I had the car for 3 days and put it in its grave. It has a 6 cd changer and 1 case with it. There is a car cover that will go with the purchase of this car. I am selling due to lack of cash. I would like to keep it, but i cant. Im being straight up with you about things it needs. I replaced the turn signal and relay. The foglights will need to be replaced. Brakes will be needed to to brake sensor on and rotors feeling suspicious. The shocks will need to be replaced also. The toyo proxes will need to be replaced also because there around 25% life left. Other than that its pretty firm and a tight performing car. It whips around the corners let me tell you! I have all documentation dating back to california and manuals and keys with a new key bought for over 60.00 bucks! My loss is your gain! The engine core is worth alone 800.00. Bone stock. It has m countours if you cant tell in photos and there is no spare tire in the back when i purchased. There is a flashlight in the glove box and M colored stiching on the steering wheel. Its a shame to sell but its got to be done! MY PHONE NUMBER IS 231 425 7443. My email is foxboy_5@yahoo.com. I AM PRETTY FIRM ON MY PRICE, remember I NEED the money for another ride. Do not expect somethign for nothing! Thankyou!

No, I'm with you. He said he over-revved it but didn't say what happened. Did you blow the engine? Does it run and drive? Did you get a quote if it is blown? I'm in the market for a bimmer soon and these are very helpful to my decision if answered. Thanks.

How exactly do you over-rev a car? I am not exactly new to cars but I never have had any experience with that aspect of them. Over-revving is done how, and what does it do to your engine?

You hit 1st gear downshifting from 4th.
How bad did you moneyshift it? Piston through the block or just bent valves?
jermanjoy
02-05-2007, 06:59 PM
YES ITS BLOWN and you can get a used motor from http://www.bavengine.com for around 3,000 with a 2 year warranty and a compression test and all! WHEN I STATED I put it in its grave it means either its blown engine or trans but its the engine I have it stated on a mechanics diagnostics sheet. confirming new engine needed. The plugs looked like hamburger when pulled. Other than that here is a perfect time to purchase a part of car history and turn it into a ultimate driving machine.

02-05-2007, 07:02 PM
the block is fine, just needs rebuild, supposedly i blew a hole through the piston, but I think I hit a valve because I had it at a constant engine speed in 5th and goin on and off the throttle in 4th and i didnt feel the torque and looked down with the check engine light on and the tach at 0! Perfect for a turbo build or track car. It would make a good daily driver once fixed. Clean title!

You hate bimmers because you cant rev them to 13,000RPMs? Maybe you should hate ALL cars, and buy a motorcycle. But did you just downshift from 5th to 4th in high RPMs?

What part of mi are you in?
jermanjoy
02-05-2007, 07:26 PM
yes from 5th to 3rd but it didnt kill it then it caught up with me at 100 mph on the highway about 2o miles later with 3 people in the back. It was at a constant cruise speed I kept punching the throtle in 5th and then it gave out, remember i only had it three days and drove it less then 24 hours and i blew it. When i first got it there were acorns and cigs in the air box. Thankyou.

How do you know if it was my fault? Maybe it was the engine and tranny mounts it has hard to shift and smelled horrible and it wasnt my clutch work or the pressure plate! ThERE WERE ACORNS AND CIGS IN THE AIRBOX! I need a reliable car and a m3 is not one of them. Im looking at a s2000 if i sell this m3!

A misshift is your error if your driving. I've driven with bad pressure plates, broken springs clips, bad tranny/engine mounts, even my tranny was tilted 10 degrees to the right on my S50 E30...stuff gets into the airbox over time, what's your point?

HEY MY GRAMPAS FROM BUFFALO NARROWS. pretty cold. Is it true you cant own rifles in canada? DIdnt they confinscate them? hmmmm....sry off topic anyways I have been an enthusiast for quite some while and own all the books 101 projects and enthusiasts guide and all this, but if your looking for performance to dollar value the m does not shape up. Its a really nice car but I want a 9,000 rpm redline like an s2000 since i already have a honda too.

g uys i drove many manual cars before i drive an e36 which i also happen to so easily misshift and go from from 3rd into 4th instead...
I think the transmision mounts were at fault i had them replaced shifted much better after that... I got lucky I only needed a head rebuild around $2000 but you can have much more damage to your engine plus your transmission.
Overrev due to misshift is a big problem on e36 BMW's ,,,,many many owners have done just that.

You're not making offers you're taking them.
People like you make it harder and harder for people like me to find e36 m3s. If someone buys it from you, they arent just paying for the engine, it's going to cost more money, and take more time to put that damn thing in. Main reason you should lower your price isnt because it's by any stretch of means a deal, its out of convience.
With bmws you arent just paying for performance atleast not all for WHP, if you want cheap speed thats fine, but if you want some speed, some great handling, and a great looking car, you pay some money for it. BTW M3's come stock with cigs in the airbox, if that was what you were implying.
Crushing it after 3 days? Sounds like you don't care about taking heavy losses because you arent going to work for youre money. You're the idiot that was driving all sorts of stupid with 3 people in the back, you over revved the car, and you shouldnt give the guys trying to help you out a hard time.

You should probably shut up and take the $4250 you were offered. I picked up a 95 M3 with a GOOD engine for $4000 a year ago. With your engine being damaged, to an unknown extent I might add, you shouldn't even be able to get $3k for it, but some poor chump (No offense Widsinator) will probably end up buying this from you and finding out it has more issues than you are telling us. People like you need to stay in the low performance cars so you don't break all the nice ones that we want to buy. YOU moneyshifted it. The people who I have heard stories from about moneyshifting a car were always driving fast and not paying attention to what they were doing. You want to shift super fast and feel like Schumi, but you ended up blowing your motor and blaming it on the manufacturer. Grow up and learn to take responsibility for your own actions before you do something stupid and end up as a street racing fatality.

If I told you, I wouldn't be able to find more, now would I?
:lol Just kidding. It was an auto, that had taken a light pole to the front. Pretty amazing, but the engine was good. Ran like a champ. HAd it checked out and it's now sitting in my storage awaiting a rebuild. After all the parting out, I came out ahead by a few hundred, with free Vaders, 3:23 diff, M3 suspension/subframes, auto trans (:( ), and engine. I parted that thing like it was the last worldly posession I had and I needed the money for a life-saving surgery. :D It was stripped to bare metal and wiring harnesses when I rolled it off to the scrapper on my old 318 running gear. The place that I bought it from originally wanted $6k or something. Then it dropped to $5k. It had been listed for a long time, but nobody wanted it because it was an auto. I ended up paying $4k to them and about $900 to ship it to Vegas.

Wow, what a great guy. You don't try to sell a bimmer on a bimmer site by stating that you hate bimmers. All because you jacked it up, you blame it on the car. I know I'm probably repeating what some people said cause I don't feel like reading the entire thread, but damn. You would be better off sticking a for sale sign on it and placing it next to the road and keeping your mouth shut if you want it gone so bad. Good luck with that.

Sorry man, but mis-shifting is so common by e36 drivers they even have a nick name for it. It's called the money shift due to how much it costs to do the repairs afterwards.

And that's why I have a standing offer of only $2,500 to him, once he smartens up and realizes what he REALLY is trying to sell.
He hasn't yet disclosed mileage on the car, or really anything else about its condition other than a few Myspace-angle pictures. Other than that, this thread (and about 4 others) are piss-and-vinegar moanings about how much BMWs/M3s suck because he can't shift gears.
I'd just go ahead and assume that all the common issues on this car are going to need attention ASAP -- by the time its sorted properly and the motor is rebuilt, its going to be an expensive car even if he GIVES it away as-is.

I know man, I was just trying to make a point. I guarentee there have been at least twice as many $$$ shifts on the e36's as there has been on the e46's or any other bmw model ever made. Maybe that's b/c there are so many e36's out there and so many e36 drivers seems to be inexpierenced. Regardless, e36's are notorious for the $$$ shift, e46's are far from common. There's a new story about a $$$ shifted e36 on bf.c every day it seems. I've worked in service for BMW and have never seen a $$$ shifted e46. On the other hand, I've seen at least 10-12 e36's that have.

So you bought a car that wasn't taken care of, and then decided to just throw a part or two at it and beat the living piss out if it? You admitted you downshifted wrong, you were also sustaining 100+ with passengers while punching on and off the throttle. You ASKED for it to break and it gave you what you wanted.
High loads to the engine under engine braking, missing shifts because your clutch foot is faster than your brain, I wonder if there were any high rpm launches thrown into your 24 hours of fun?
Sorry dude, go buy an Accord and learn how to drive first. Maybe then you can graduate to a driver's car.

Are you seriously haggling over a $150 difference when someone here offered you $4,250 for your car? I would reconsider that option. It is hard to find someone on the Internet who is serious and not a full of crap tire kicker, but it is even harder to find one offering real money for a car with a blown motor. Reconsider before that guy changes his mind.

ok the guy is a young idiot
BUT everyone should stop bashing his tread
let the guy sell the car just cause you dont like the guy
doesnt you give you the right to mess up his sale.
I think the price of $4500 is pretty good. its still an original
M3 car it just needs a new motor or a rebuilt on the old one.
and personally I would rather buy a M3 for this price and rebuilt
the motor to start with a fresh engine.

No one should buy this car from him. He has been lying about his car and situation since day one. He has owned this car since thanksgiving. So hes been beating ths piss out of it since day 1. I will never by an m3 from a seventeen year old. Let me ride around his bike, he said he was going to crush it. Guess not. You should read every post in both his threads before commenting.
