Well I've been looking for a 2002 and I found one locally but it is in very bad shape. Alot of rust, it runs but the idle is high and the brakes need to be replaced. He has 2 new doors that will come with it and a rust free front fender. The seats are all ripped up but the floorboards dont look too bad.
He said he would take $350 but I thats too high. I don't want to buy something and get sucked into a money trap. Im not expecting anything perfect but just something to mess around with. Should I offer him $100 and see if he takes it? Worst thing is I could just part the car out and break even or make a litte. Opinions? Sorry, I didnt bring my camera so no pictures.

Buy a car with no rust. That's the first rule with 2002s.
Important to have no rust in rockers, rear shock towers, and front shock towers/frame, as well as floorboards.
I wouldn't touch it if I were you.

sounds like a mess.....even if you can't afford a completely restored one, save up a couple thousand and get one that you can drive now....you can always get a mint one down the road. i'm still working on getting you a pic and price for that one up here in akron, but the one you're looking at sounds like one that you'll need to sink thousands into to even get drivable.

might be a good parts car. i've paid up to $200 for an 002 with good parts that i need and parts i knew i would need in the past. dont disregard this 002 yet. it might come in handy some day.
