Tire wears out in 2 months <hr style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> I have a 2005 M3 with competition package. I do very normal driving and occasionally spin the car. For some vague reason, my rear tyres wear out in 2 months. I have already changed the rear tyres twice (one tyre at a time). I have aligned the car, balanced the wheels; but i still have this "tyre wearin out" problem. Right now, my right tyre is worn out. I just replaced it 2 months back.

I dont understand whats the problem with the car. The mechanic told me that there is no problem with the car.

Pls help me out guys!
Vishnu

What sort of tire, what kind of alignment setting, where and how is it wearing out?

"I do very normal driving and occasionally spin the car. For some vague reason, my rear tyres wear out in 2 months." This statements seems so obviously contradictory that I couldn't help but laugh.

I can conceive of no explanation other than in the middle of the night, your evil twin gets into the car, goes to the track and does track sessions on the QT.

You probably have really grippy summer tires on there with a 180 or less treadwear rating. Oh, and stop spinning your car.

The tires i have is 255/25/ZR19 Michelin Pilotsport tires..
The car was aligned a month back by BMW and after that i never spun the car. Still the right rear tyre has worn out.

Are you sure they're 255/25/19s? If so there's your problem.

The car was aligned a month back by BMW That does not automatically mean it is correct.

What aftermarket suspension and how much drop?

Are they wearing evenly, or more to the outside, or more to the inside? Are both tires wearing at the same rate? DO YOU HAVE PICTURES?

I only ask because I care, not because I'm trying to be a d*ck. :D

are you replacing 1 tire at a time or as a pair? If you are just replacing 1 tire at a time, you have different size tires on either end of the axle. This is a problem.

pls remember that dont know lots of car lingo..
the car tyre right now wore a lot to the outside. At the inside, there are still treads. But, outside the tyre is bald.
I will try to get some pics today.
There are no aftermarket suspensions. My car has no aftermarket parts.

Yes. I do replace one tyre at a time. But when I replace one tire, the other tire looks relatively new.
But, after a month or so, that other tyre wears out. :( i lik my car, but this tyre problem is making me sick..

you're causing the problem by only replacing one tire at time. The rear end is trying to spin the tires at two different speeds. Fortunately you haven't burned up the rear end.

Replace the tires as a pair and get re-aligned.

It's an LSD not a spool homey.

I would also say replace both at once. Save the worn out one for a spare.

And you bought an M3?

That is like owning a Hecker G36 and saying you don't know much about guns.

Try replacing all 4 tires at the same time, with something that has a good wear rating. Immediately after you do that, take your car to a good shop and have them check the alignment. Then drive to the book store and buy a few books on BMWs...start learning about the car you drive, that many people on this forum would KILL for.
