The drop is real but the wheels are photoshopped...here's the original with the DS1's...those are RS-GT's but I'm going to be picking up either those or RGR's (nearly identical) in the near future...:)

As for susp...this is what I am running...

Ground Control Coilovers/Koni SA's (550/700)
UUC Swaybarian Sways
Rear Shock Mounts
Powerflex rear trailing arm bushings
Adjustable endlinks
Adj. control arms
AA Diff support brace
Subframe reinforcement
Camber plates
Sway links

I love it...period.

The tire itself seems to still have marginal tread left, what would cause the inner sidewall to shred?

I wish I would have taken pictures of this girls tire I changed...I had to loan her my spare ( she had an E46 CIC ). Her tire was shredded ALL the way around.

did you ask her how she did it?

Yeah, how in the world did you do that? Camber setting?

mitchelrl
01-31-2007, 01:06 AM
She was stopped on the largest floating bridge in the world...with no median. I walked up to her and she's like "I think I have a flat"

I had a few beers with her a week or so later when she returned my spare to me. Really nice girl. I completely forgot to get her phone number on the highway, but I gave her mine and loaned her my spare.

She's a cheerleader if I remember correctly and a modeling scout and also promotes for some company that makes lipstick cam setups. She was a Really cool girl, worth changing her tire.

um, you really need to raise your car David.

it is extremely too low and will not allow for proper suspension geometry & enough suspension travel that you'll be constantly on your bump stops. but if the slammed, y0 look is better for you, then there ya go ;)

Wow you really bent those. Mine was kinda bent but nothing like that. Besides taking out the bolt subframe side, the washer and eccentric bolt fused together from the force and would not break free. Took me 30 min to get that out. Wish I had a dremel.

At least the rim seems to be okay...

It's fine...it happened about 2 minutes from where I live so I actually drove very, very slowly home on it...wheel is just fine. :)

Damn, I gotta say, I think your car is too low, especially for drifting, there has to be no suspension travel, looks great though!

Like I said, the car was lowered for one day/night but it's back to normal ride height now...well, still low but not slammed - just right for me. :)

I died a little bit when you told us those rims were photoshopped. :(

I'm going to bed.

SRY.

now what do you do for speed bumps?

I go over them very slowly and one wheel at a time...but the car sits normaly now.

he doesn't drive it that low... he just dropped it for photo purposes.

Well...not JUST for the pictures...I just wanted to see how it felt and what it'd look like for a day.

Yeah, how in the world did you do that? Camber setting?

As far as I know that was the original spare tire from 1995...so, well...you get the idea...it didn't like the horizontal stress...:devillook

um, you really need to raise your car David.

David - how do the 550/700 lb spring rates feel? I am gonna be using the same srping rates...... but city driving is gonna make me piss blood :(

It's pretty much perfect for all applications that I do: auto-x, drifting, road racing, DE's/track days...I love the way it feels. The car doesn't "bounce" through corners and the rebound is just right. When sliding it's VERY responsive and smooth It soaks up any sort of uneven bumps in the road and is very, very flat, balanced and even through smooth sections and, well, I know I am younger than most on here (well, for the most part I am) and I could care less about my back but it's really not that bad (this is coming from a 19 year old). I still stand by my statement when I say that the sways honestly made the biggest difference, though. It took a little while getting used to the dynamics of how it drives and handles in different situations but the car is so much more versatile now and is much easier to control on all fronts. :)

yeah, what is the 550/700 combo like?

Perfect. ;)

Oh, and if you're wondering (which you're probably not) why it took me 5 hours to reply and why I am replying this late...these pictures about sum it up...;)

Found a gold mine tonight...I usually will find one or two tires that are useable and my size if I go out looking...I found 12 tonight...:buttrock :buttrock :buttrock :buttrock :buttrock

Two trips later and 12 more tires added to the stock pile...who knew you could fit 7 (large) tires in an E36 M3 with two people in the car...:eyecrazy

good info about the spring rates......i need to get a ride in a car equipped with those rates to see how tolerable it is with the extremely shitty roads up here, but i think it would be worth it to see the improved & amazing handling on the track.
