Hey guys, just checking in. I've been a member on the boards for a while now (not a n00b) and thought I should check in with the Mini forum, since I have one! Actually, it's my girlfriend's, but I let her drive it, if you know what I mean. About it (I'm sure you all know much more about it than I): 2005 Mini S, dark grey metallic w/ black roof. 6 speed, pretty loaded (xenons, H/K sound, digital C/C) and so far she's (we're) very happy with it. It has ~21,000 miles on it, BTW, and the previous owner never let it sit one day without being spotless. This car is immaculate! Anyway, wanted to check in and I'll be reading about any of the typical things I can be looking for, while enjoying any feedback any of you may have to offer. I'll try to get some pics up soon!:redspot

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Driftinge30, I notice you have the John Cooper Werks package (which is probably sweet), are there any other performance mods I can get (besides his) that won't void my warrantee? I was looking into a new supercharger pulley (gains around 15%), but I wasn't sure if there was another brand that doesn't void the warrantee. Obviously I have a lot of time left on that, and would like to keep it for as long as possible. Are JC Werks parts sold separately, or only as a kit? Do they have to be installed by a dealer? So far it's bone stock, except a piece that makes the windows one-touch up and down, aftermarket tint, and a clearbra. Thanks all!

Congrats on the purchase! Some dealerships are ok with pulleys, it differs from dealerships. You could always replace a pulley with the stock one if you really needed to. You can get JCW parts separately (like intake, injectors) but the aftermarket route would be cheaper and just as good in terms of performance if not better

Thanks for the info. It does seem like the supercharger pulley is the fastest way to make the car faster for a reasonable price. I know she plans on doing some cosmetic mods (as long as I give her the okay first), but as far as power gains, an intake and new pulley for the S/C seem to make the most sense. BTW, is there any software modifications necessary for the S/C pulley? And what web sites do you all reccommend for perfomance parts (Alta, JCW)? Thanks!

hello and welcome! you're off to a great start and can surely get good bang for your buck with a pulley and intake first. Alta is a good brand... also check out www.m7tuning.com and www.webbmotorsports.com as well as Ralph's company www.helix13.com. I'm not sure what shops in your area do the installs, but you will certainly see an instant gain from that. another nice, inexpensive mod is the helix engine damper which gives you a much more solid feel while shifting. Best of luck!
