The Ipod integration with the Idrive and the alarm system into my 328xi...first time I have seen my clown nose light up! Cool! The Ipod feature is awesome...sounds better than any CD by far. Glad I did them both!

Did you have the dealer install these? How much was it to have them do it if you don't mind me asking.

One dealer told me 2 hous labor each times $112/hr...so that would have been $450 in labor! Called a different one, actually owned by the originally dealer...and their service dept quoted me $165 for each item or 1.5 hours install...needless to say, I went there and saved over $110. Purchased the OEM parts for both of these at autowebaccessories.com and saved $125 between the 2 parts...so overall got the best deal I could for them...hope that helps...they are both great add ons! The alarm actually chirps on arming and disarming too...along with the red light blinking

The ipod simply does not sound better than any CD. No sir.

Unless of course you've ripped your CD's to .WAV Files.

Glad you like the adds, though. Hows the AWD?

That a CD player would sound better than an Ipod...the digital music is super clean for me!

Love the AWD in Michigan...have not slid once since I have had it!

ToddAnisman is right on this one. The iPod audio files are compressed which means the CD version would be better quality. While there are some compression algorithms that come very close to loss-less, the default compression algorithm and bit rate that iTunes (and many other programs) use to rip your CDs is not one of these near loss-less formats.

That being said, 99% of people can't hear the difference.

I've heard the oem ipod itegration isn't that great since it locks the ipod and doesn't let you select individual songs or even albums without skipping through every song. Is that true?

I think it has been updated since then...you can select by song, artist, album, playlist, or genre...works pretty good if you ask me...
