Okay so on diffsonline.com they have several options.
40% lockup, 40-60% lockup 3 puck clutch, 40-70% lock 4 puck clutch, etc. Whats the difference. What is the best for a dual purpose track car and daily driver. Thanks for your help. :help

If you drive it on the street 40% is more then enough.
Stock is ~25% or so.
More lockup means less differential action will actually occur.

not to ask a stupid question, but is more slip better for racing or something? Whats the advantage to less on the street, more on the track?

More lock up will mean that the diff is spinning both wheels around corners more. On a racetrack you often dont make extremely tight turns in which the wheels will need to be unclocked as often. THis is my understanding please anyone who knows better correct me if im wrong.

TTT .. id like to hear more information , i was curious about the different advantages of % lock-ups as well :)
When you going around a tight turn the out side back wheel travels faster than the inside wheel. This means that they must be allowed to spin at different speed or else you would squeal tires through the turn. In a non LSD one wheel can spin completely free of the other, while this is good for everyday driving during high performance driving your going to want to accelerate out of the turn. This means you will want power to both wheel to push the car through the turn for best performance. So you really need a balance, too little slip and its hard to turn, to much slip and you lose performance.

Actually, in a race situation, when you are going around a corner, and unload the inside wheel, (weight transfer), with an open diff, you will spin the unloaded tire. Killing corner exit.
Stock diff was a 25% LS, 40% is about the limit on the street. Any more and you will have very high wear due to the scrubbing of the OUTSIDE tire in turns. My first race car had a locked diff, no action at all. Just a mini spool instead of gears... :-) It was a bitch to push around the paddock. Maybe 160 Hp, 2300#'s and 1:28's at Summit Point, 2:15's at Watkins Glen, under the track record at Loew's Motor speedway.
