I ran the Peake tool on my car tonight and got the following codes:
16 "Ignition Coil, Cyl #7"
F6 "Secondary air system flow too low, Cyl #4-6"
Anyone have a clue what these mean? Can I clear the codes and see if they come back?
Any help is appreciated.

m3 coil 7? um.. right....
check the vacuum line for the secondary air... also check the line to the 4-6 header for opens/blockage.
for the coil, its NOT 7 so whichever one is is, swap a coil first, see if problem follows, if it doesnt, swap a plug, see if it follows.

#16 refers to the table you refer to.
Replace Emissions Air-Pump. (Vacuum blower into header)

I'll bet that "16" is the reference to use a specific Table to look up your numbers/letters. That is what my Peake tool reads, then I look at the book and it actually refers me to table 11.
F6 is possibly telling you that your secondary air pump is not working right/at all.
Do a search on "secondary air pump" and you will probably find a bunch of information.
And yes, you can clear the code to see if it will come back. I usually do that as a confirmation on any code that I might get.

Ya I don't get cyl #7 but that's what is in the Peake code list. I did swap the coil this afternoon and haven't seen the code change. I will swap it again and see if it is a bad coil.

It just dispalys 16. I see the code 16 and also a table 16. So you think I should refer to table 16?
How do I clear the codes. The Peake doesn't say how to (it's actually a BavAuto code reader which I think is the same as Peake).

FWIW - make sure your 16 and f6 codes are not 1b and fb codes.
On the Peake tool the difference between the "6" and "b" is a little "-" at the top.
A failing secondary air pump isn't very common on the E36 BUT the code f6 for EVAP leaks IS! :)
To reset the codes click over to the cE and if I remember right, it's the second button to the right that is the reset - my peake has it labelled RESET.

16 Disturbance In The IgnitionP or pulse-Generator of the camshaft
Please check individually in the system following sequence:
- spark plugs, - ignition-coil(s), - pulse generator camshaft.
But like others said, 16 might refer to the table.

Guess I'm an idiot. I cleared the codes, drove the car for a bit and rescanned. No codes have shown up.
Thanks for your help.

Yes, the first number always refers to the table...
