About to buy a 98 328i

Its all over the internet so yes I read the E36 have problems with their water pump and thermostat. When I go check this car out tomorrow what else should I look for, what are some other wear and tear parts I could tell a mechanic to inspect. I plan to get some form of mechanical inspection done to the car before I buy it.

Any other pointers would really help me out too. Thanks.

Suspension and cooling system are key to have looked at/ replaced.

What other parts of the cooling system are trouble some? I also read that I can only use BMW brand Coolant, right?
