Good luck...you're sure to have a bitchy time doing it but don't get discouraged:) The install within of itself is simple. Just do it right the first time.

The install itself is a cake, if you can take the bitch clip off. I did mine on jack stands, it wasn't all that easy.

Good luck with the bitch clip. May be easier to drop the front half of the driveshaft so you can see the shifter. But that actually might be more work than just trying to get the clip out.

Yes, would have been easier on a lift of course. But really the main problem is the bitch clip. If you aren't dropping the transmission you have about half an inch or so to work with. I won't lie, it was really hard for me to get that clip off.

some clips are more difficult than others. biggest tip i can give is actually for slipping the rubber shift boot over the shift carrier: lube it up with liquid dish soap, it'll practically fall into place.

Go for it. That was the first mod i did, on jack stands as well. I didn't find the bitch clip as difficult to remove as others have found it.

The trick with the bitch clip is to turn it till the top (closed flat end) is facing up, then using a long flat blade screw driver push it straight up. It will come off in seconds. On my M3 it was easier to push the clip off from inside the car and on my 320 it worked easier from underneath. To reinstall the clip get it started by hand then use the long screwdriver to push it on the rest of the way.
