I can't believe this idiot. I just got an email from this guy over on Roadfly that has his 95 3.0L M3 for sale and claims he has over 300HP. So I sent him a email asking how he achieved these numbers with out a blower. This is the smart a$$ reply I received. LOL Check this out, I copied the email.....

240 stock
27-30 intake, chip, euro hfm
3-5 exhaust
18-20 track pipe
3-5 pulleys
3-5 headers

total 294 -305 i hope i passed the math test
thanks maxbmw@cox-internet.com

waoh, if he's testing 240, he's got one of the STRONGEST engines around. Most dyno in the 210~215 rang.

Clearly he's lying.

He should have gotten 100bhp from headers.

Sounds like he started with his crank horsepower and added magazine dyno numbers for each of his mods.

um those are crank hp numbers. you guys are sooo judgemental. and yes those are a little optomistic but not terribly off. with those mods it is not hard to imagine that if it is a 3.2 liter he is making close to if not at 240ish rwhp which translates to about 280 hp. but it is not unheard of an na m3 making 250 to the wheels.

again it is a little optomistic but not unreasonable.

hey i mean we can always just say random parts give us a ton of horse power.
Heres my list
.17-1/2 inch CHROME rims = 20hp
.sunroof = 40-50hp
.cd player = 120hp
290 + 240 = 530horses
its simple math :P

Here is the link to his 300HP N/A monster. I guess we can excuse him because of his age, no? :confused

It's not that we are being so judge mental, it's just common sense. If you are going to sell something or better yet if you own something at least have some kind of knowledge in regards to the subject. Do some research for crying out loud. You can't just spit out numbers like that and everyone knows that mods don't add up HP like that. I just thought it was funny and wanted to bring a giggle to my fellow BimmerForum members.

P.S. I know he probably meant crank HP but too extremely optomistic for a N/A 3.0L

Yeah no doubt, it's a super clean car. Far from 300bhp also.

Notice how the word "cox" is on his email address. That was a real smartass reply he sent you and I dont even own an M but I know that he doesn't have 300hp whether it be rwhp, maybe closer in terms of crank power but not 300

With cams, it is possible.

Without bigger injectors or much higher pressure through stock ones, it is impossible.

I'm not an engineer or mechanic, but with bolt-on parts the added performance is not cumulative, i.e., you can't just add up all the performance bonuses and get a total increase in HP/torque. As Dana Carvey doing George Bush would say, "Na ga da."

Dinan modded a M3 with hi-flow airbox, bigger throttle body, low-restriction airflow meter, cams, chip, exhaust and got 285hp and 267 lb-ft torque.

He is obviously just measuring the horsepower based on stock + predicted gains from mods, although those gains are pretty overrated

Dinan modded a M3 with hi-flow airbox, bigger throttle body, low-restriction airflow meter, cams, chip, exhaust and got 285hp and 267 lb-ft torque.

And people have gone a step or two further, with a track pipe, headers, and pullies, and just about hit or broken the 300 crank hp barrier. Dinan uses the mild Shricks. There are more radical cams, made by Sunbelt, that have reportedly made over 310 crank hp. More rpm is part of the equation, and there have apparently been problems running stock S52 to 7600 rpm. If the engine is built for 7600 or 8000 rpm, there is more power to be had -- the S54 makes 330 hp mostly because it spins 1000 rpm higher than the S52 (same goes for Euro S50 and S52).

There are a few threads in this forum and the Forced Induction forum with dyno results for "all the bolt on NA mods." There are also a couple of threads on Shricks versus Sunbelts that may be those same dyno threads.

Always remember an after market oil cap is worth 50hp, refilling your blinker fluid also give you about 30hp and fixing those damn muffler bearings is worth a solid 40hp. So all and all you should be able to get an extra 120hp of bull $#!t. O, and don't forget about that cun-otter valve, I hear those things don't last long either.

Does he have any stickers? Those add an extra 3-5 hp too.
