1985 BMW 635CSi E24 "Shark"
I am reluctantly selling my precious 635CSi in hopes of finding an 8 series to fill the void. I bought this car from a retired gentleman, who was liquidating his BMW collection. He had owned the car for over 10 years, and took care of it like one of his children. Before he sold me the car, he had reciepts for mechanical restoration totalling over $14,000. When I was purchasing the car, he took me to the shop that completed the work, and I spoke with the shop owner about the car. He knows it inside out and gave me the utmost confidence, assuring me that everything had already been done. Included with this sale will be the vehicle labor history for the last several years. He was the second owner, the first was a pilot who rarely drove the car. It has always been a California car, so it has no rust.
It is a black on black leather E24 bodystyle 635CSi. Legendary 3.4L inline 6 engine, and a 4 speed automatic transmission. Power everything (and it all works) and upgraded Alpine CD player. The wheels are 17'' OEM BMW wheels with performance tires from an E39 BMW 540i. They make the car look great and stick to the road. Aside from rims and CD player and a Clifford alarm, car is 100% stock. The original toolset is in the trunk (with tools) and the original spare as well. I have both sets of keys, and a car cover.
This car is in phenomenal mechanical shape. Virtually every part under the hood has been tended to, repaired, or replaced within the last 3 years. The paint is original and shiny for the most part. Always garaged, and kept indoors when not in use. Does not leak ANY oil, and EVERYTHING works. Hot heat, cold A/C, a CD player, working power windows and door locks, sunroof with tilt, cruise control, keyless entry. I get compliments EVERYWHERE I go in this car. Notes are left on my windshield while I'm out.
This car is twenty-two years old and has 226,100 original miles. As stated, everything worth mentioning under the hood has been tended to. The car needs absolutely nothing and is daily driven. I wouldn't hesitate to take a road trip in this car right now.
Here is a partial list of what has been done most recently:
-Passed smog with flying colors - July 2006
-New Radiator installed 6/29/2006 ($790)
-Major Service (ask for details) - Feb 2006
-New oil pump - 5/28/2004
-New //M Steering wheel
-New air filter
-New Chain rails/tensioners
-New Cyl heads/VALVE Job
-New Accelerator cable
-New cruise control cable
-New brake calipers/cross-drilled rotors - April 2004
-New water pump
-New Hood pads
-New hood struts
-New distributor cap/rotor
-Replaced crank shaft sensor
-Replaced transmission throttle cable + trans service
-New BELTS
-Replaced oil pan/gasket/engine mounts
-Replaced hand brake shoes kit
The car is in great working order. Aside from the benefits listed above, the car has a few cracks in the dash (these cars are notorious for this problem). The paint is shiny on 75% of the car. The right rear quarter panel shows the most fading. The gentleman who owned the car previously told me that he took the car to get detailed, and they burned through the clearcoat with the buffer. Since then, it hasn't held a shine. Aside from that, it's gorgeous. Maybe an 8 foot car.
In the interest of 100% disclosure and honesty, I've tried to capture the beauty and the flaws in my pics. I'd be happy to take pics of any particular angle or spot on the car. I have the list of recent work, as well as the smog reciept. This is not in show condition. It runs great, but needs some TLC here and there. With a new paint job, it'd be 90% done. The car is currently registered, and I have paid through October 2007. I just had a minor service done and all fluids were completed and brakes were checked. This was 1/2/2007. The majority of these pics were taken Today.
Any questions, feel free to post here or email me at ( bradkleinman@yahoo.com ). Having owned several BMWs, including an E46, I am very familiar with the marque and hope to attract an equally passionate buyer for my E24. The car is advertised locally and is available for viewing by appointment. I'm in the Los Angeles area, by the 10 and 405 interchange.
Asking $7,000
