Like the title says. For those of you who no longer have a warranty on your bmw, do you change your own oil?

lol, omg...thats crazy...
A Wash/lube shop once identified my Volvo I once had as a turbo 2.8l engine when it had no turbo & had a badge on the car that said 2.9l. They also left the airfilter box unfastened & my hood open through the shop & wash stages. I noticed it when I was driving.

Definately. Working on my car is like sex... if you want it done right, you gotta do it yourself.

One of my sis' ex-Boyfriends worked at Jiffylube. (she's something of a mouthbreather for some reason) and the horror stories I heard is enough to make even my mom want to change her own oil herself.

Since most of us change our own oil...what are the cheapest online stores to get the better motor oils? Mobil 1 0w40, Amsoil, Purple...?

I don't trust oil change morons.
Plus they probably couldn't do a proper S38 change without getting oil everywhere.
I admit I do take my work truck and my Exploder to Walmart, can't beat 5 quarts of your choice synthetic and a filter for 40 bucks.
I do the M5, motorhome, and carrera powerboat.

I feel like a loser cause I always just take mine in to my mechanic because he does it fast and fairly cheap, and I am really lazy.

Yup, I change the oil on both my bimmer and my motorcycle. Amazingly, the oil change on the bimmer is easier since it can be done 100% topside.

I change my own at at work or if Im feeling lazy I have 1 of the techs do it for me....changin my own oil i usually spend like 40-45 bucks for 4 qts of castrol high mileage 20/50, 1 can of restore *shit really works*, and a bottle of gunk motor flush

i work at a jiffy lube so i just do it my self there. Nothing better than free synthetic oil. Not only do i not pay for my oil changes but i am getting paid to do it.

Like the title says. For those of you who no longer have a warranty on your bmw, do you change your own oil?
My car is under warranty and I do most of the maintenance on it (oil, coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid..). I buy everything at my local dealer and keep the receipts with the note of date and kilometres when fluid was changed.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I wouldn't ever do it any other way than change it myself or let someone I knew personally and trusted do it for me.

The results are actually surprising to me...
I thought there would be more people that take their cars to performance shops or smaller BMW specialist shops...

+1 you forgot transmission conversions. ;) And yes I change my own oil as well. :D
A tad OT but, I have a more bitch of a time working on my DuraTrax Warhead than my actual cars.
