I didn't really know how to find this information so I thought I might as well ask. Were there any E36 M3 convertibles? What year did they start making them?

yeah, the earliest I found was 98 on ebay - but I wanted to make sure. Anything downside to the m3 vert that they fixed later? I found a nice '98 m3 vert with a hardtop - if it weren't in Connecticut lol.

E36 M3 verts were produced for 1998 and 1999 for the US market. About 2500 made each year. 70% of them are automatic.

Ick, i didn't realize that last statistic. Of course I would never buy an auto, that is definently one of my search strings when ebaying =)

I couldve sworn a buddy of mine bought a 96 M3 vert. I told him he was nuts and didnt know what he was talking about. The sedans were only made from 97-98, and I thought the verts were 98-99 only...

Yep. 98-99. And, one of those rare 5speeds is in my garage waiting for warmer weather.
