Both my dad and I have recently ordered BMWs from two different dealers in Sweden, and while they were and forthcoming before we signed, it all changed after they had their sale in writing. All of the sudden they don't answer emails anymore, and you more or less have to pester them to get deliverydates, buildstatus and so on. :mad
This is NOT what one would expect after ordering a 500 000 SEK car (about $70 000), so my question is if this behavior is normal for BMW? Makes me worry about service and such. :dunno

I think thats a normal thing for any manufacturer....most sales people in dealers don't know more about the car than is written in the sales broschure....
Call general manager and let them know how you feel...chances are they want your service business.....:) By the way, do you get free maintenance in Sweden?
Unrelated question - what is your honest opinion of SAAB? As a former Saab owner, just curious.

Im currently looking at 328's (don't own one yet) but I can say back when I had my M3 I received good service from the dealer after the sale, as well as great treatment from a closer dealership for service work, even though i didn't buy the car from them originally.

Real estate agents are the same way . . . once the contract is signed most salesmen could pretty much care less whether you're satisfied or not. That's one reason I don't buy new cars -- that and it's usually a waste of money since I know how to fix most things that might break on my E30.

This is certainly not the case with the dealership where I purchased my car. The gentleman that sold me the car always goes out of his way to say hello to me when he sees me at the dealership and I even received a Christmas card from him last month. I have had similar experiences to yours when purchasing other cars, but I can say that this time around has been different, in a good way.:buttrock

You shouldn't expect this treatment for a $20,000 car! If the dealership and salesman want repeat business and a good reputation that is! I have purchased my last 4 BMW's from the same dealership because they are honest with me and go out of their way to help me.

You got to be kidding me. Quality BMW SUCKS!!!! I helped my friend deal on a merc there and from the experience, i will never, i repeat never do business with them ever! Her merc has been in the shop 3 times for the same problem and they will do nothing about the lemon law. they have had many lawsuits. oh yeah, the salesman was MAD about the deal we got cause I had my GM call the GM of Quality BMW to get the deal done and the salesman was PISSED and he told us about it. It was going to be a mini anyways so he got paid the same. They do not respect their customers. who was your salesman?

Yes, free service for 3 years or 80 000 km, whichever comes first. As for contacting the manager... My dad dealed directly with the CEO for his dealer but got the same treatment as I did at my dealer.
And finally... SAAB... Can't really comment since I drive Volvo. But the Volvo dealer was very nice when I ordered the S60T5 . Even treated me to dinner when I picked up my new car :) (in retrospect, maybe he made too much profit ... nah ;))

I just had a similar problem with my dealer. The guy was great while in the sales process, but now that everything is signed, he basically tries to make it feel like he's done me a favor by selling me the car and not helping me out.
And actually I planned on caller the dealer after work to speak with the sales manager. Let him know what terrible post sales service I got and what little help I got from the CA. I will be taking my service and accessory add-on business elsewhere.
(I was the OP on the recent tint/dealership issue).
Sorry you have to go through what some of us did. :(

at least here in the US BMW salespeople stand to make more money based on the level of service that you rate them. There are standard customer surveys that are done and they ask you to rate them 1-5 with 5 being the best. If you're not getting anywhere with them I would suggest sending the salesperson an email stating that you would like the opportunity to give him all 5's but need some assistance. that may just perk him up.
also keep in mind that you may be able to get better information by calling BMW directly to check on your order. I know that was the case when I ordered my MINI and that had nothing to do with the dealer. she showed me their status screen and it was days behind.

Random question: I was in Kobenhavn all summer, and I know they have a 180% tax on any car. Do they have a similar tax in Sweeden? If so, well, that sucks.
