Are there any differences if I use a 11/16" socket to remove / tighten the wheel lugs on my E36? I know the correct size socket is 17mm; however, I bought a box of Imperial Size sockets today since they are on sale. If not, I can go back to the store to have a refund.

Thanks.

11/16th = 17.5mm

Get the right socket. Have you ever tried removing a stripped lug nut? It's a bitch.

I see, so all the manufacturers are using metric sockets!

So, who is using imperial sockets? American cars?

11/16 works great, especially 6-sided ones. Go for it.

will you use the SAE size? then keep them. craftsman sockets are around $3-7 per socket, skip lunch one day if you have to. (sets are a better idea)

Just refund and purchased a set of metric soket.

By the way, does anyone knows how to use a torque socket? (i.e. the one with different colour)
