I'm playing on getting my 335i in two weeks and I wanted to add this DVD based nav system in it....question is does it fit with no problem? I'm getting my car without the BMW navigation BTW. I have tried many sites to find the answer but could not find it anywhere. Anyone know? Thanks.

When you get the BMW factory Navi unit, it is a different shaped dash with an extra hump to accommodate the size of a Navi screen. I haven't seen the aftermarket unit you describe, but I can't imagine how it would fit in the non-Navi dash.

I too would love to have that particular in-dash unit. From what I have heard and read it is very nice and works well. I did read a post and see pictures of a 3-series sedan (E90) that had a large screen navigation/computer unit installed and it looked very nice. It was extremely well done from what I could see and I assume that the same should be possible in the coupe. My concern would be the climate control unit's location and the size of its surround. Depending on the installed systems your car has, the surround of the the climate control may be higher or lower in the dash and it may need to be remounted to fit something like that Pioneer unit.

If you go to crutchfield they will list what fist in your car without modifications and some units that require very minimal modification (like some internal brackets being removed). Otherwise, the unit will not fit without alot of customization.

Crutchfield doesn't have info on the '07 3 Series yet.

There is definitely room in the Dash but it would require that the climate control unit be moved either lower or higher (necessitating a new surround be fabricated for it).

I really would love to have this Pioneer unit, mainly because it is MUCH easier to use than the way BMW insists on doing things. However, I am about to buy an Eten M700 cell phone which will accomplish the same navigation using TomTom 6. I used an iPAQ 6915 WM5 phone with GPS for navigation for a couple months and it was impressive so if I can't get an in-dash unit to do the trick something like that could always be in my pocket for when I need it. Not a bad little toy!
