I have a '95 325i manual, and when im driving along in 2nd or 3rd gear (dont think it happens as hard/much in 4th and 5th, but the problem hasnt been happening long enough for me to know) and the mpg needle is down in the <25 range and i suddenly take my foot off the gas, my car shudders pretty bad (by shuddering I mean it sort of feels like i am pressing my foot on and off the gas pedal quickly a few times kind of like if you had a rough shift and didnt give it enough gas). It doesnt happen as bad when the needle is >25, but still happens. The same thing happens if I then stick my foot back on the gas kind of hard.

Another thing is when I am just crusing along in 2nd or third gear, not accelerating or decelerating or anything, I feel a slight shudder and its not happening as quickly. I'm not sure if these are connected or not. I am more annoyed than worried but I want to figure out whats going on! Thaankyou

I think it's normal, It happens on my 325i, it happened on my VW passat and on old chevy I had. If it's not then I want the cure also.

I kinda get that if my RPM's get real low, like below 1k or so, while I'm in 3rd or cruising. I think its the engine stressing to keep the car rolling at a constant speed with the higher ratios. I used to try to get the highest fuel economy possible and that would happen with almost every time but my buddy made me realize that I should just use the fuel and stress the clutch becuase I can easily re-fil the gas or replace the cluth but I sure as fuck don't want to replace a crankshaft. Just a thought, might not even be the same thing!

I've had a similar problem... check to make sure all lug nuts on the wheels are fully tightend.

hahaha, I drove off once after taking off the tires... this happen big time! but I think this isn't the cause in this case because if it was.. those tires would have came off a long time ago :rofl at least it would have in my case.

yeah, I think it is normal. My car does it after the torque converter locks up.
