hey guys. i had an overheat problem two moths ago because my radiator cracked. as soon as the needle hit red, i stoped and pulled over. i towed it to the dealer the next day and they replaced the radiator. car ran fine for two months but i noticed that white smoke came out of the tailpipe sometimes. i took it in today. i got it preasured checked and it turned out i needed a new thermostat. i talked to the head mechanic and he said the head gasket and head were fine, and the preasure test detected no leaks. so now im stuck wondering where this white smoke is comming from? its been around 50 degres here lately. what could be causing this smoke? its not a lot, but just wondering.

Even though it might be in the 50's during the day, it can still get pretty cold at night, it gets in the 30-40's here. That will mean some condensation will form in your exhaust and is probably just turning into steam when you start to drive it.

you only need worry about smoke when it begins to look like you are crop dusting

hey guys i got it checked out. turns out that i dont drive the car enough. i live 4 blocks from my work so i dont give my car a chance to really heat up, or even rev high. today i took it on the highway doing 80mph in 4th gear at about 4000rpm. when i stoped, the smoke was gone. thanks for ur comments. i gues i just have to take my car on more joy rides and rev it like its meant to be:)

Ah 4 blocks from work..... that's not enough time for your engine to warm up. You are at risk for a lot more buildup problems in your engine and it may live a shorter life. If I were you I'd take it out for a longer drive at least a few times a week :)

well it seems you are leaking coolant/water somwhere into the exhaust...have you checked all the hoses?

um, there is no water, the smoke is gone. i just wasnt driving my car enough for the engine to heat up for these last few weeks. but i took it for a half our drive on the highway and now the smoke is gone.

Why on earth do you drive to work when you can walk?

I hope that is a joke. condensation will form in the exhuast and steam will be visable this is totally normal. having catilitic converters make iven more that not becasue h20 is a bi product of the reaction

well i knew that condensation was normal in the morning, but i got concerned because mine was doing it when i got out of work like at 3east time. but like i said- the problem was that my car wasnt being warmed up enough in the morning, so it also smoked in the asfternoon. it only happened for a month because ive been on xmas break and havent had to really drive, exept for work and back. this week ive been taking a long way to work, smoke is gone, evrything is good:).
