Has anyone tried to put a sat radio antenna in the back window (inside on the rear deck) on a 325? Will it get good reception or do I need to install it on trunk lid/roof?

Just put it on your trunk, you will be happy you do, its really annoying to keep losing its signal. It really doesnt take that long to do either.

while I have never installed sat radio. I do know of people who have placed their antenna's in the rear window. I think it does restrict some of it's view of the sky, but the glass is transparent to the sat signal, so it should still work

It works, however the signal will be terrible

I've got a Gen 1 antenna (the big hockey puck/mouse looking thing) and the small postage stamp sized ones mounted on the rear deck of both an e30 and e36.

I have had no reception problems at all, even with the e36 having its windows tinted.

YMMV

I have cars with both externally mounted antennas and antennas on the dashboard. Can't say I have noticed any difference in reception.

BMW used to have us mount the GPS antennae for the add on BMW NAVI for e36 in the dash behind the center vent. totally concealed and worked perfectly. Just throwing that out there for aesthetics. I haven't tried with Sat radio but it might work.

listen to this guy, because i have the same exact experience in multiple cars. right now, i have mine installed on top of the rear deck lid, but am going to install it underneath it when i get a chance for more of a stealth look.
