View Full Version : Upgrade Stereo AFTER Purchase?

Hey, guys, I bought a 328i Sedan in November and did not upgrade the stereo at the time of purchase. I simply assumed that the stereo in a $40K car would be on par with --if not better than -- the factory installed stereo I got with my previous vehicle (2000 Toyota Solara). Unfortunately, I am not happy at all with the factory installed stereo with the 2007 328i.
My question is simple: can I now go back and get the stereo upgraded?

I think the Logic7 upgrade has more speakers, some subwoofers and a different head unit, so I'm not sure if you can just swap the head unit. An external amp, if its possible, may be a better choice.

WOW! Is the factory installed stereo that bad Kcliff? Is it the sound quality or what that makes it bad?

Even if it is possible it is likely to be expensive (retrofits usually exceed the price of the original option). IMO your safest bet is upgrading the speakers with after market units. By my previous experiences this alone can make a huge difference.

NO, it's not that bad at all.

How do you know BMW335i. The 335i comes standard with Logic 7. Only 328i's come with the basic steroes.

In Canada Logic7 is an option on all 3 series but included with the Premium package for all models...which is likely why so many 3 series have that package since the included options are cheaper bundled together.

Yes, I find the stereo to be "tinny" and does not fill the car with a full sound. I've adjusted bass, treble, everything and just don't get the richness and fullness of sound I am used to. Very disappointed.
