well, ive started to accumulate some parts here for my bmw. Hopefully i can get started soon. I was gunna get started this weekend but a recent visit to the hospital and 5 stiches in my hand is telling me i should wait a little bit.:eyecrazy
so heres a little spreadsheet i am using to help me keep my spending under control.

There are a couple things i will be removing from this list like the cheap airfilter. I figured foam chunks flying into the compressor wheel is a bad idea.
Im obviously not done. Ill still need some piping/couplers/clutch/exhaust/guages and flanges. Im trying to keep the list as accurate as possible.
So far this build has cost me $0.00 since im using the money i make off of parting out my old civic drag car.
Any thoughts and critisism is welcome as long as its constructive.
Im gunna go ahead and add about $1,000.00 to the budget since i think that is about how much i will need to get the rest of my parts and finish. Luckily i have a couple friends who own shops and weld, and i work at a place that has about 50+ good welders, so fab costs should be at a very minimum unless i have to buy steel/aluminum from my work which is something retarded like $x.xx per lb depending on what material.

Sweet build-up list! If you don't mind me asking, got any pictures of your civic drag car, and what type of numbers did you make with it?

Nice list! Good work making it all neat on Excel or whatever you used. :alright
Gotta love the fact guys like UrineMachine are making new cheaper options for tuning. And you can continue to make changes and tune it yourself on the street for free! :buttrock

lol, I have alot of friends in the race scene. I Tune ALOT of cars locally and alot for free. Soooo, alot of people owe me favors. Such as a walbro fuel pump for 20bucs or a hks wastegate for 50bucs. I help people out and they help me out back.

OK I feel much better, I am doing a very similar build right now and I am way way over your total right now. I was feeling like I over paid for my stuff by a ton but it makes a lot more sense now, good luck

dont feel too bad. Im still going to end up dropping like 1000-1500 more depending on what products i plan on running.
I plan on going with the aem wideband and aem tru boost gauge/controller.
$450-$500.00 right there. then add the 2pod bazel and an additional oil psi guage, which is another $1-200.00
I just purchased some extra silicone couplers, and exhaust pieces from summit and that totaled to $89.00
I still need a gt4bolt flange for my exhaust and some other random stuff.
I still need a clutch!!!!!!!!!! this is something i will purchase last because its going to depend on what money i have left.
Im also debating on whether or not to go with the cometic head gaskit sinceits nothing but problems. Ill probably just get some arp's and a stock headgasket and see what she can take.
My brain feels like this :eyecrazy

for the power you will probably make, you should try that F1 racing ebay clutch. its really cheap and i believe rafa is running it successfully with ~390-400wtq

Yeah isn't it amazing how fast stuff adds up! I sold an aa s/c, shrick cams and shorty headers for $3500 and put that towards my turbo system, after a .140 hg, arp studs, precision gt35r, precision intercooler, tial 44mm gate, 50mm bov, and what seems like endless ancilaries, Ive blown through a few grand and haven't even started with the tuning. I hope the end result is worth it!

ok a little bit of an update:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v371/turbociv/bmwupdatebudget.jpg
This is what i got soo far. I still need to purchase a clutch which will be aound 500. I was supposed to last fri but forgot. Ill be buying a clutch from clutchnet.com. I will also be purchasing a .140 cometic tommorow for $195.00 and arp head studs for $150.00. Then i will purchase in a few weeks as things start coming together my aem wideband ($250) my aem boost controller/guage($250) and my aem oil pressure guage.($150) and my guage bezil for $30.
ok, so tack another $1500ish or so onto my build and i say ill have a pretty complete and good quality build. I know im leaving some stuff out right now, like head mill and fluids, and just misc. stuff from the local parts stores like hoses and shit.
Now i must admit, when i first set out to start this project I did not intend to spend this much money. I ended up talking myself into alot of higher quality parts and more fail safe options. Yes, i coulda probably shaved about $500-$1000 by not purchasing good guages and not going headstuds/gasket and choosing lesser expensive componants.
But, i dont wanna end up with any regrets so im trying to do this right the first time so i dont have to fix something twice.
Please feel free to add anything you think would be helpfull for my build. Im realy trying hard to accumulate everything all before i start the wrenching process.:redspot

With free welding frabrication help and your ability to install and tune, you should be in pretty good shape. Those Ebay manifolds don't have the best reputation. Maybe they have improved since they first came out, but you might want to turn it over to your welder friends first for any reinforcement they recommend. I had some good luck on other cars adding either an under or an over brace to support the turbo. You can go off the header studs or other bolts in the block. I then added a flex section in the downpipe. These come in shorty styles that might be 3 to 6 inches and longer styles that might be 10 to 14 inches. The shorty ones are probably all you need. The longer ones can be used to gain a little bend to mate up pipes if they are not perfectly in place. I have also usually added some support to the downpipe by running an arm off the bell housing over to the pipe.

yea, the manifolds seems are gunna be rewelded and back purged by my buddies shop to help out against cracking. I also have a full 3in exhaust laying around thats about 2months old from my civic w/ magnaflow muffler and resonator, and a 6in flex section. Ill be chopping that up and maiting it to my bmw.
I was really pleased with the ebay intercooler kit i got. It has a TON of bends which i will not be able to use all of, and a ton of silicone couplers/worm clamps(couplers are ok, and clamps will be changed). The only real complaint about it is the ends arent rolled, which isnt a problem either. So this kit ended up working great for me.

I would add in some $ to resurface the cylinder head before you install the HG/studs. Looking forward to see the end result.
