I took these before I got to work on my camera phone, i'll take more with my digital cam and pics of the car, how it sits, I'm going to do everything right this time and make sure I take my time. So it will take a month or so, maybe more, but atleast, I know it will be done right. I'm going to have to order new studs and nuts and gaskets for my manifold. I'm going to start mocking up my charge pipe for my blow through set up.
Thanks for the comments everyone, I would have never been inspired to do this, if I had never seen bmwperson, highboostingm3, vaderm3, concentric190, thrrtt?, streub1, and all of the other FI guys, bf.c has really played a big role in my FI set up. THanks everyone!

Sick manifold. What is your goal WHP?
Well I started with the goal of 600rwhp, but it's pretty unrealistic, with my hardware, so now, probably around 450 or so. I'm hoping once I up the boost to maybe 18, I could do 500 or so. I'm probably going to run off the wastegate right now. It's a 1bar spring, ebrydc care to chime in here, I can't remember exactly....
Thanks for the lovely comments..

Yeah I hear ya there! I love my wife and couldn't live without her either. What you need to do is get an account just for your toy stuff that she can't access. Have the statements available online only. She can't bitch about what she doesn't know about. It's also great for stashing money to look like funds are low in the main accounts so she doesn't overspend. :D :smoke3

Interesting take on the manifold - I like it!
How does the V-band handle the weight of the turbo?
Darth Maul
12-31-2006, 08:12 PM
HaHa, I'm going to try that seperate account thing, lol.
UrineMachine, I really liked how you did your top mount and your set up is very nice and clean, which is what I was trying to emulate, just a good old fashioned stock looking engine bay with a big turbo sitting up top. haha.
Not sure on the v-band handling the weight of the turbo question, I'm just not sure. Maybe Haithem will see this thread and chime in...

Your setup looks sound - I've only ever used V-bands with the exhaust setup from the downpipe and back. I've never really bolted to pipes together to see how they support one another, but I am always up for trying new shit!

Hey bro...read more closely. My wife doesn't understand it and we had big fights about it. I was going to purchase a restored '56 Chevy big block and TT it or a '69 Camaro and TT it with the cash I got from selling my Supra. Well that didn't fly. So after all the bickering we figured out the car account plan. If your wife will never understand, then you need the car account plan my man. Go to the bank, open a new account with only your name on it and make sure she can't access it online...only your username and password will access. Give a work address or a P.O. Box as the address. Make sure statements are only viewed online and not mailed. Get an ATM/Check card and check book for the account so you can buy stuff online and pay tuners/fabricators. Put a certain amount in there each month for your car or a lump sum. There you go. If wifey asks you about the car just keep your mouth shut and say it's supposed to be done soon. Getting all fired up about how sick the turbo is going to sound, how the lower compression from the full engine rebuild will allow for way more boost and power, that the new piping will flow so good, how the new intercooler is so much larger. Dude, all she will hear are the words in bold and all she will want to ask after that is, "and how much is this going to cost us?" It's easy to want to talk about it cause we are sick puppies and need to, but just don't do it man! Hold it in until you get on AIM or BFC, then let it all out! :buttrock

Hay Guys
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. We did take our time on the manifold about 2 or 3 weeks longer than I told Tony and i appreciate his understanding about the time!!!
The primaries going to the first set of vbands is 1.5 inch that goes to the collector which is two 2 inch pipes merged together which builds to a 2.5 inch up pipe. The Vband flanges will hold up those are solid and when tightened down they don't move at all. The cool thing is and what we are proud of is that this system is completely modular, it will esentially be the last header you ever have to buy. We can build you a down pipe to make this car NA or an uppipe to make it turbo ready. We will also offer true twin scroll uppipes from the first collector and offer it in any flange size you would like or any size up pipe you would like from 2 inch to 3 inch. Hopefully if we can we would like to build tony's downpipe which will be another interesting peice we can include in the kit.
I am not going to post pricing unfortunately i am not a sponsor here yet and I don't want to be disrespectful to the forum or any paying vendor. But we are sponsors on another M3forum where you can contact us for the time being.

I luv the way you think.. A Car account is a great idea.. cause she dose like to dip in my account from time to time yo.. (gotta put a Check on that shyt):mad
But all I get from her is.. "That piece of shyt car of yours is always sitting in the drive way broke? LOL why don't u drive it"? I just wish she could understand why and what I’m doing to the car. That it’s just not an everyday car rarely used for DC streets. That’s why u drive the Acura honey.. Leave my car alone… LOL. Damm females.lol

Darth Maul
01-05-2007, 01:15 PM
ok, can you give me the link to some pretty cheap good stuff though, this is what I need...
oil feed line
oil drain line, longer one...
3.5"-3" silicone
4"-3.5" silicone 90degree
my main concern is the oil feed and oil drain, I have a fitting on there i believe, but I'm not sure, maybe david (ebrydc) will say so, since it's his old turbo.
dmb882
01-05-2007, 02:40 PM
Go to the site for the silicon pieces you need and t-bolt clamps.
I used the oil line in techno550's oil kit. For your oil drain you need a long hose and depending on how you do the return to the pan depends on what you would buy. I just drilled and tapped mine w/ a brass piped threaded end and slipped the oil return hose over it and put a clamp on it.
Darth Maul
01-05-2007, 02:50 PM
my oil pan is already tapped, i just need the metal thing that has a hole in on the turbo, but I don't know where to get that, and a turbo gasket, I was looking at a t04 and t4, but my t4 doesn't have two holes like the atp turbo gasket, i don't think anyway, and i don't know if the t04 is made for my gt35r t4.
dmb882
01-05-2007, 03:44 PM
It's 35r right? ballbearing center section? Look for a gt series return flange and gasket.

It's called an oil return flange or oil drain flange I did not find any in the supporting vendors but I guess there is some if you look carefully. Sucks that some just sells the big parts and cannot find the little stuff I look for. Maybe we have to call to get them.
Keep up the good work. Remember life starts at 10 psi
