'ok, just about ready to slide the motor back in my 71 02. got the motor mounts in hand and they look almost like the ones that came out, same dimensions, except where the ones that came out have a large alignment pin the new ones have a small dimple. I checked realoem and the left hand mount is different, realoem shows a round unit and the one i have is rectangular shape. anyone have experience with the type i have that have the small dimple, how does that one dimple keep the mount from possibly riding forward. I'm thinking of spot welding the mounts to the body brackets. I checked an after mkt source and the mounts they show are the same as what i now have. btw the mounts i now have came from bmw dealer. anay help/tips/suggestions appreciated.

One mount is round, the other is rectangular. See pic of IE's urethane mounts...

thanks, I went to ie's site after i read some recent threads about motor mounts and found the info you sent, thanks. thing is, when i ordered the mounts from the dealer the rep asked which type i had, i told him both are rectangular, he replied there are two types, one with a cylindrical looking part (like shown on ie's site) and the type i have, both rectangular. now I'm wondering which is which. and which would be the best. i checked on realoem and all they show is one round one rectangular. i checked a few models and a few years and all with m10 had the same mounts.

Round one is drivers side, the other is Passenger.
I had the rectangular one in my car before I put the urethane ones in. round or rectangular they will fit no matter AFAIK.
