Many are happy with the brembo blanks. Good for the money.

I went with the Brembos. They were about $10 less each than the Balos. I've always thought Brembos were very good rotors, near top of the line.
BTW guys, anybody know if an E36 has 4 or 2 brake sensors?

I put the ATE slotted rotors on my car

Can't say if they are good or bad. I went from non-vented rotors on my Ti to the vented rotors and calipers from a 328.. so the braking is much better than it was before. (it does not help that one of my old rotors was warped and the caliper was sticking)

^^nice, but I don't understand the point of vented rotors? Do they just keep the brakes/rotors a few degrees cooler?

don't really think they do much.

Just don't get cross-drilled.

Be careful about the Brembo's. Mine came from Mexico and are of cheap quality...they've warped already and i had to get them shaved on a lathe. Not to mention the rust...don't go cheap on brakes :)

The braking would be the same as the surface area and caliper size is no different. However there would be better heat dissipation and not to mention new brakes should grab better.

oh, I know they were the same diametre rotor.. however, the non-vented calipers used smaller pads.
And they were badly worm, so anything would have been better.
The slots really do not do much more than just look pretty on a street car, through they do help to degas the rotors some and keep the pads from glazing

Caution! Commentary below....
The whole "Brembo craze" drives me away from their product. I'm sure they make good stuff, but my image of them only gets worse with time. I blame eBay and the ricers ;) I think there are plenty of fake Brembo rotors out there too.
IMHO, if you drive your car only on the streets, you can't beat OEM rotors and OEM pads. No holes, no slots, no "race" pads, etc...
I have Balo rotors and the quality is excellent! When I took them out of the box, it was hard to believe such a beautiful chunk of iron could be <$50.

I believe that Balos are balances, where the other ones aren't...
That's what I've heard.

I love my brembo-blank/hawk HPS combo on all four corners. Near-dustless stopping perfection!

imho they don't really keep it cooler. when you brake hard you can develope a cousion of gas between your pad and rotor. the vents direct the gases away makeing it brake better. if you don't drive your car hard, more to the point brake hard and drive deep into corners, then don't waste the money on vented rotors.

What about Brembo drilled rotors? I went to the dealer and also to Kragen lol and for stock factory rotors it was $85/each so $170 for both front rotors. I went online and Bavauto.com has drilled rotors for 179.95. Is worth the extra 10 bucks for drilled or should I just go with Brembo blanks?

I ran the factory Euro M3 Floating Rotors on my E36 M3, great rotors and no fade. Call Pacific BMW, they should have them in stock and a good price. BMW knows their brakes, especially the ///M Division.

There are a LOT of brembo fakes out there. As far as I know, brembo has never made blanks for Hyundai.. yet you can find "them" on ebay.
As for the balanced thing. My ATE discs were balanced. You could see where they machined some of the materian on the edge away to make up for the hole drilled for the guide bolt

I got my Brembos over in the group buy forum for $80/pair from a website called Import Replacement Parts. These are not knock-off Brembo's are they? If they are, I'm sending them back.
What can I look for when I receive them to determine if they are fake or real. When I bought them I almost thought the price was too good to be true.

I agree with Mad Machine, there are a lot of Brembo fakes out there. Most are made in China. While most people can't tell the difference looking at the rotor, the packaging is slightly different and the box cardboard quality is cheap feeling. It's tough to describe, but if you have the original and fake side by side you can see and feel the differences.

When I receive mine, if I posted pictures of the box and rotors could tell me if they are real or not?
