How often do you need to replace your engine mounts and what kind of mounts do you run?

Just wondering.

If I knew all the options, I would make a poll :embarrasm

PS: This is more for the people who run a stiff suspension but anyone can participate but I don't discriminate ;)

David-

I doubt that a c/o suspension is going to accelerate the wear on your motor mounts by a significant amount.

Now, going on your head will cause them to rip :help

i replaced mines around 100K miles. the passengerside mount rubber was cracked all the way around where the metal and rubber meet.

the driverside was in ok condition surprisingly. its easy to replace. driverside can be a PITA tho, because u need to remove the intake elbow, maf, etc to get access to the engine bracket.

IMO i don't see any reason why a stiff suspension would wear them out much quicker than a stock suspension. Depending on the roads you drive on i guess. Probably has something to do with the weather you see. Acid rain, salt on the roads etc.. .

The stiffer suspension will shorten the lifespan of your motor mounts... By 10 minutes if you have bad luck.

30.000 miles, of which 3.000 are track or ring use. Rest of the car is at 91.000 miles.

Here's the real story behind this: I went to a BMW/MBenz parts shop to buy the mounts (and other stuff) and I ask him how long they're supposed to last and he told me that depends on the suspension, a bad stock suspension or a stiff suspension will make them last a couple years, no more.

Yeah, whatever, but my last set of mounts lasted like 20K miles (I don't remember exactly but it's less than 30K miles for sure) so I considered he may be right...

Maybe the mounts you guys get in Argentina are different? I've never heard of anyone's mounts failing as early as 30k miles. If you don't mind the extra vibration go with some aftermarket mounts.

Not sure, why?

These mounts I got today are Bilstein, I asked him if he had any stiffer mounts and he mentioned the 330d ones (yeah, 330 diesel) but he wasn't sure if they would fit or not... so... I got the Bilstein that are made to fit most E36/E46.
