Hello and Merry Xmas! I'm sure everyone is busy this evening but had some down time. New to the forum... just purchased an '02 325(my gift from the wife). Can anyone give some insight into the 215/45/17 vs 225/45/17? I thought I had 225's but they are 215's. Everything I look up re tires references the 225's. Should I switch to 225's?Thanks

There's not a huge difference. When you need new tires, switch to 225s. For now, 215s should be fine.

225's are actually marginally closer to your stock size than the 215's- 225's are 0.4% bigger and the 215's are about 1% smaller.
there wont be much, if any difference in grip between those 2 sizes (within the same tire model). youll notice more of an improvement going to better tires than to wider tires
225 is a bit more commin size than 215 as well, with tirerack offering 130 tires in the 225 vs 61 in the 215
