Christmas Emergency! Help!!!

My stupid battery died because my info display won't turn off. Now, I can't get into the trunk of my E46 M3c...where all of my Christmas presents have been hiding!!! I can't RTFM because it's in, ta-da, the trunk! How can I pop the trunk or charge the battery enough to get it open? There's a box with the a "+" right next off the passenger side front strut, just below the cross brace. Is this a place I can hook up a jumper cable? It looks like it, but I want to be sure and not fry the electrical system on my car. Where do you connect the negative jumper if so?

There you go. Alternatively, you may be able to insert the key into the hole in the trunk and turn it. I'm not sure if that would work with a dead battery though.

Connect the positive jumper cable to the "+" side that you mentioned, and then use the negitive on any metal piece around it. It doesnt really matter what you conncet the negative side to as long as its metal so it grounds the connection

Why am I reminded of the Blonde Joke about the girl who called AAA because she could get into her car? The tow truck driver came out and she said the battery died in her remote and could not unlock the doors. He took the key, stuck it in the handle and manually unlocked the doors.

I'm sure the fine BMW engineers thought of manual overide. I think you should look into it. Just think, keys have been opening locks just by turning them,,, for centuries!!!!! Wow!
