Nice find. Check realoem.com and compare model/part numbers.

good idea. It's pretty close to both of us i think... (dorravile right near tilly mill and 141 Peachtree industial). If I go to seriously check it out I'll let ya know. I am really looking for a manual but since my car is at my friends shop which is maybe a block away I figured I may be able to swap them.

See, when you said right by my house I was thinking like 2 homes down or something, unless that is your neck of the woods.

oh no I was thinking you lived in Chamblee for some reason. I think its cause I remembered you posting something in the GA section about wondering who's car was at the Chamblee Waho or something...

The engine is a little different and makes less power. Pull the engine and tranny from the e34 and drop it in the e28. It would make for a nice driver. Otherwise the tranny should fit the older model.

That was me. I have friends that live in Chamblee so I am there quite frequently :)

Nice! you'll have to stop by the shop sometime.

Kessler-I was thinking of doing that if the mileage on the '86 is close to that of the e34. But if it is much lower (doubtful) than i would just like to swap the trans just for simplicity reasons. So it should be compatable without any weird parts.

The trans will work, but the driveshaft will have to be cut and I don't know if the pedals will work. The brake systems are also different, so the clutch cylinders will be different.

This guy right here could write a damn book, I wish I knew half as much as he does. Keep posting, I vote you as the smartest e34 member we have. :buttrock

No, that would be 323ijunkie, MrProject, or Qsilver. they are both far more versed in the way of the bimmer. I simply looked extensively into auto->manual swaps for both my E9 and me E34 540.
