OK, I did the valvebody fix (basicly a shruken check valve) on my 540i a few days (weeks?) ago and it's working perfectly. It shifts crisper, quicker, and isn't doing the transbrake thing where it was in low gear and reverse at the same time.

Basicly, there's susposed to be like 500psi on it in low gear, BUT, when the valvebody goes bad, it lets pressure bleed off to like 300ishPSI and reverse starts to engage. The way it was explained to me is why reverse burns out of the 540is while the rest of the transmission works fine.

Anyway, the kit was like 100 bucks and shipping, it's not real difficult to install, and makes a huge difference. My car has over 150K on it, and you wouldn't know it by the engine or trans.

An added bonus is it'll start out in first gear more often. When I pulled out of the driveway, I left almost 150' of rubber and didn't really notice until I seen all the smoke rolling and thought I blew out the pan gasket or something. I've also got Michelin 80K super hard compound tires that smoke way to easy.

It's nice not having to switch to manual mode everytime I stop then flipping back to adaptive when I start. Fluid still looked good (not burnt) and no metal, so I think I'm golden.

Now if I could fix those stupid interior lights...

It's just all the stuff to rebuild your stock valvebody back to factory specs. Mine was bad, so it made a huge difference. There's a few threads around here (some are mine, but there should be a bunch more). Mostly a bunch of springs and checkvalves. Kirk in MI has them.

It's NOT a shiftkit or anything, but if you're is worn out (mostly due to a shrunken check valve) it'll make it feel like the brakes are on/dragging when you pull out, and that'll burn one up pretty quick.
