Ya.. so you all know my cooling woes.. new radiator, water pump, tstat, fan, fan clutch.. well the cars been up and running for the last week.. and today the obc said check coolant level .. so i did.. and it was about 1/2 way down the cylinder. I topped it off with some bottled water I had, bc thats all i had with me.. but i was wondering if needing to top it off once is normal or not. Ive driven probably around 200 miles since i got it back last.. give or take 50ish. The most recent work that was done was replacing the fan, fan clutch, and one of the hoses.

I just need to know if my cooling system is still f'd up, or if this is okay

prolly just some air in the system, if you haven't noticed any leaks, i wouldn't worry too much, but i'd do a flush/bleed with distilled/bmw coolant anyway...chepa insurance, just to make sure...

It can be difficult to bleed the cooling system of all air the first time. You may have to top it off a couple of times as the system bleeds itself.

assuming that its not leaking, the mechanic shouldn't have let this happen but its not exactly uncommon.after all the work done, he probably filled up the system and sent the car on its way, without properly letting the car warm up and let the thermostat let coolant into the engine, explaining why later on the coolant was low. as long as there are no puddles under your car i don't think its that big .of a deal

Agreed. It took me three fills to get mine full. No big deal.

okay.. yeah i actually had the guy at my house fixing the problem, bleeding it and running the car. He said he bled it once or twice.. i didnt notice a leak anywhere, so ill just run it unless i see another problem.. thx
